Amy (bookczuk) | 97 comments Fares Aoun, a GoodReads author and author of Jerusalem Spring asked me to review his book. I am unable to do so at this time, but explained about bookrings, and he was interested in having his book ringed. If interested, please post here and PM me you interest and mailing preferences. In order for this to be international, we'd need someone(s) to send it overseas and back.

If interested, please respond via BookCrossing:

Here's what he wrote me about the book:

"My novel, Jerusalem Spring, was recently published, and I would be
honored to have you read and consider reviewing it. Please let me
know where to send the hard copy or digital version of the book.

Jerusalem Spring is the story of an unlikely friendship between two men, a white prison warden named Scott and an African-American inmate named Joe, in a segregated prison in the American south. The book draws a parallel between the fight to end discrimination during the civil rights era and the situation in modern-day Jerusalem.

The novel explores the tensions in the relationship between Scott and Joe and the other people in their lives. Scott’s wife has become unhappy with the segregation in their town. New inmates arrive and challenge the status quo. Joe becomes less reliable as Scott’s informant and the warden begins to question his motives as he tries to redeem himself in the eyes of those he cares about.

Scott and Joe struggle to connect and overcome the obstacles to their
friendship despite prison riots, bus explosions, and recruitment
efforts by fundamentalist groups bent on destruction. The characters’
lives intersect across racial, religious, political, and geographic
boundaries, ultimately delivering a message of hope overcoming
prejudice as the story transitions in a surprising twist to modern-day
Jerusalem."

Amy (bookczuk) | 97 comments Raluk68, be sure to sign up at the BookCrossing site, if you haven't already. That's where I'll be making the list from.

Amy (bookczuk) | 97 comments I'll be closing the ring this weekend -- anyone else interested?

Grada (BoekenTrol) (boekentrol) I also signed up, made a post in the BC-thread.

Amy (bookczuk) | 97 comments I saw that. Thanks! Looks like there's more interest abroad than in the US. But at least the book should be able to get over and back. I'll read it when it returns home.

I'm interested...can you explain what I should do please...I've not done a bookring before

Amy (bookczuk) | 97 comments Pop on over to the forum thread and say you're interested. Since the book will travel internationally, please let me know if you are able to send to another country or not. I can't recall if someone else from Canada has signed up, so if it's a huge hardship to mail internationally, it may impact if you can join the ring or not. When your turn comes up, the person before you will contact you by PM to ask your mailing address and then send the book to you. When you are finished (or near finished) you PM the next person on the list and ask for their address then mail it to them. You should journal when you receive the book and when you finish the book/send it off. That's pretty much it. Anyone else add anything?

Amy (bookczuk) | 97 comments Dot -

The book can get to Canada. Would you be able to send it on either to the US or to EU? I'm setting up the ring now and can make adjustments if you still want to sign up. Please let me know either way.

Dorothy (vilette) | 59 comments I've decided that I'm not interested in this particular book, but am willing and able to join a bookring or ray and mail overseas when I see something offered that appeals to me.

This is also my first post on this group :)

I have been a member of BC for a while but find the forums a bit difficult to navigate and have lapsed.
I don't label my books, the feedback seems to minor to warrant it.

Will see if I can find you on the site......
