Rose waited anxiously worrying about her 12 year old sister. Her little brother was only 10 and still to young to be entered but Calli just turned 12 this year and was entered in. Rose waited as the mayor recited all the usual mombo jumbo she never listened to. Finally it was time for them to call the names of the tributes her heart raced as she prayed Calli's name wouldnt be called. In a clear bubbly voice"Rose DeLuna" was the name called for the girl tribute. Rose's face dropped as she realized it was her but she was determined not to cry so she took a deep breath and walked up to the stage. SHe could hear her sister screaming and trying to follow her but Rose's friend Blaze held her back as Rose mounted the stage

"Jaryd Danver!"

No. No, it can't be. Not me. Anyone but me.

"Jaryd Danver? Please come to the stage!"

Jaryd realized he was frozen in place. He forced himself to take a step forward, and then another, and another. His brothers cleared the path for him, and his mother reached after him helplessly, already sobbing. Jaryd took his place, keeping his expression confident and calm - there was no need for his mother to worry any more than she already had.

He looked to his brothers - the two who were still young enough to be Tributes - but they avoided his eyes, staring at the ground. They weren't going to volunteer for him.

He was alone.

Rose waited as the boy tributes name was called trying not to cry knowing if she did she'd be marked as a weakling

Jaryd joined the girl tribute from District 9, standing on the stage as hundreds of pairs of eyes stared at him with a sort of pity mixed with relief - sucks for him, but at least it's not me, the looks said. Jaryd's expression suddenly turned stone-cold. He hated these people - his brothers, the Capital, the Career Tributes. They all played a part in what would lead to his eventual demise.

There was a very slim chance of Jaryd winning, and he knew it. But he made a promise to himself that, even if he did not come home alive, he would take down every last Career Tribute before he died. The tributes from districts like 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 deserved to win far more than the others. To them, it was survival. To the others, to the Careers, it was just some sort of sick game, and Jaryd swore to put an end to it.

The peacekeepers rushed them to the Justice Buliding and pulled her into a room where she waited for her friends and family. First her aunt, sister, and brother came in. She told them that she loved them and told her aunt that her friend would bring them food and help her money wise. After they left her best friend Blaze came in and she hugged him he told her he'd take care of her family and made her promise she's try her hardest to come back.The peacekeepers came in and dragged him out and she was taken to the train station

Jaryd's mother was the only one who bothered to visit with him. He said a few short words to her before being escorted onto a train. He had never been on one before, but the glamour and prestige was gone from it. He sat silently, speaking to no one, looking at no one. He would stay to himself. It was the only way to survive. If he began to care about someone, he would lose.

Rose's mentor and escort brought her to the train. She had never been on a train before so it was a whole new experience to her

Hours passed. No one so much as attempted conversation with Jaryd. He didn't mind. They were all probably contemplating how he would kill them. Well, he would surprise them. He knew his way around a fistfight, and if it really came down to it (and he was sure it would) he wasn't bad with weapons. He would survive - long enough to pick off the Careers and pave the way for one of the others to win. But he didn't need to win. He had nothing left to live for, no one but his mother, who was perfectly fine with all his brothers taking care of her. The others...he was sure they had families, some of them maybe even had lovers. He could not take that away from them.

Rose sat down completely ignoring everyone not wanting to talk to them or get close to them. it was bad enough that she knew the guy from her own district and knew she would never be able to kill him but she was determined not to talk to anyine else and get close to them

Jaryd noticed that the Career tributes were already socializing with each other, making sure the others felt as out of place as possible. Most of the other tributes simply kept to themselves all the way to the Capital. Jaryd didn't mind this - he wanted to keep to himself anyway.

Rose watched the career tributes huddled together already forming an alliance. Great why cant the careers just not get along and be by themselves like the rest of us rose sat there think. She looked around at all the other tributes seeing they were almost all sitting alone. She wanted to talk to someone but decided against it knowing they might become friends and she didnt not want to have to deal withhaving an allience

They arrived at the Capital, and Jaryd couldn't help being amazed - he'd known it was lavish and gleaming, but this... this was infuriating! The Capital was practically utopia, and all the district dwellers were forced to be their slaves, living in dreadful conditions with no hope of escape. Jaryd wanted nothing more than to punch someone. And when one of the Careers "accidentally" shIves him into the wall in passing, he had his oppotunity.

He decked the Career full-on in the face, probably breaking his nose. He and the rest of the Careers pounced immediately, and Jaryd took quite a beating before the fight was broken up. But that look of pure shock and horror in the Career's face, the other Careers' disbelief...it had been worth it. For that one moment, no matter how brief, Jaryd had had the upper hand, and the Career had shown momentary weakness.

I can do this. I can kill them. I will kill them. Every last Career...before they have a chance to kill us.

Rose sat in awe as the guy from district 9 punched a career. She stepped forward to help him out but just as she did the fight was broken up. She hated the career but she would've ben to afraid to punch one when they shoved her. After the fight was broken up she could help but just stare at the guy feeling nothing but respect for him. When it came down to it she could never kill him because he punched a career it just wouldn't feel right. Great now there was 2 people she couldn't kill

Jaryd noticed the district 12 girl looking his way. Despite his better nature, he returned her gaze and gave her a quick, semi-friendly head nod and a half-smile before looking away and staring off into space.

Rose nodded back then looked away staring at the other tributes sizing them up. Of course all of the careers seemed overly muscled and looked like they could handle weapons. But all the others just looked scared and kind of weak. On the plus side she was great with a bow and knives and knew plants well from all the years she had spent hunting illegaly in the woods so she figured she still had a fair chance

River ran his fingers lightly through his tousled, messy hair and surveyed the interior of the train with his large eyes. The Careers had already formed their own group of thugs, and the rest of the tributes were all keeping to themselves, occasionally shooting each other awkward glances. Well this just won't do, he thought, grinning. Sure there was a chance he could die - in fact, he had already come to terms with the fact that he did not stand a chance - but that was no reason to waste away these last few days of his life. His mother had always told him to live each day as if it was his last.

He quickly decided that he liked that one boy who had punched the Career, so he approached him first.

"Hey, I'm River, from 11."

Jaryd glared up at this kid - who did he think he was? Didn't he realize that he was about to die? Not wanting to seem like a total jerk, he replied simply with, "Hey. I'm Jaryd. District 9."

(Uhh yea okay basically they get off and and I think go to there rooms then meet with the stylist for the chariot costume rid then train then show training scores and then they have the interveiw with Ceaser and I think the nest day they go into the games)0

Rose scooted closer to the guys listening to their conversation wanting to talk to them but to afraid to make friends and have to kill them later on in the games

River grinned at the girl sitting across from them. "I saw you on TV," he said. "You're the District 12 girl. So how ya doin'? Scared?" He said all this like the whole thing was some sort of a joke, which appalled Jaryd.

Rose stared at him shocked for a moment that he seemed to act like everything was a joke and they weren't about to fight for their lives. She recovered from her shock then nodded"A little...I mean who wouldn't be even the careers, weather they'll admit it or not, are all probably a little scared"

((Wait Robin? Do you mean River??))

((Haha, sorry! I'm reading a book where one of the main characters is Robin, so I'm a bit messed up!))

"Yeah, I guess I'm a little scared too," River replied, leaning back in his chair. "I just hope it doesn't hurt too much when I die, you know? I want it to be short, get it over with quick." A mischievous grin spread across his face. "And I wanna take down as many Careers as I possibly can when I do eventually get killed."

Jaryd's eyes widened slightly. River sounded just like him, saying he wanted to take down the Careers. He'd have to see what this kid was capable of...they just might be able to make an alliance work.

"Who says your gonna get killed don't give up you still have a chance" Rose said kind of feeling a protectiveness towards the boy he kind of reminded her of her little brother

River shrugged, fighting to keep the pained expression off his face. "I don't stand much of a chance. You might think I'm crazy but I just think I should come to terms with my imminent death now rather than face it later."

"Don't say that I don't have a very good chance either but there's no way I'm just going to accept defeat like you are. Besides you've gotta good chance your smaller than a lot of people so you can climb trees better and probably run fast"she said and smiled"And if they can't catch you they can't kill you" she glanced at the District 9 guy noticing he hadn't said anything yet

"That's not necessarily true," Jaryd said, meeting the District 12 girl's eyes. "The Gamemakers don't have to catch you to kill you. They can monitor you're every move, and they can control the whole arena. If you stay alive too long, they can just set you on fire or throw a tracker jacker nest at you."

Rose looked at him"True but then again that's not very fun most of the capitol veiwers like to watch them fight to death and only sometimes will they do that"she said

Jaryd shrugged, not wanting to argue.

"Hey, I haven't caught either of your names yet," River piped up, breaking the silence.

"Oh I'm Rose DeLuna"she told him

"Jaryd," replied the District 9 boy curtly. "Jaryd Danver."

River felt uncomfortable around Jaryd's doom-and-gloom attitude, but he didn't dare say anything to offend the boy. This guy had punched a Career - obviously he was no coward. "So uh...you guys wanna train with me today?" he asked, smiling hesitantly.

"I don't care"she said and loked around noticing that the guy from her district was talking to the careeer. She frowne in disgust

River's smile faded upon seeing the frown on Rose's face. "Well...uh, we don't have to if you don't want to."

Jaryd felt a sudden wave of compassion come over him - this kid reminded him of how he was with his older brothers, long ago. He couldn't be a jerk to this kid. But still...did he really want to form an alliance?

"Oh no I'm fine with it I wasn't frowning at you"she said quickly seeing his smile fade she didn't want him to be sad or make him feel like she didn't like him becasue he reminded her tii much of he rbrother

"Oh," River said, brightening up immediately. "So then...cool. Alright. Um...how about you, Jaryd?" he asked hesitantly, somewhat afraid of the older boy.

Jaryd shrugged. "Yeah. Sure. Whatever."

"Great!" River exclaimed. It was nice to have someone on his side, at least during training.

Rose smiled at River's excitement liking seeing him happy. She glanced over at Jaryd and his always mad face. She wasn't sure what she thought about jaryd yet of course she repected him for punching acareer but other than that she wasnt sure what else to think

They arrived at a huge building and were separated. River felt uncomfortable on his own - he was always surrounded with people in District 11, and now being alone, except for a few Avoxes ((that's what they're called right?)), made him very squeamish. He was introduced to his stylists and they immediately set to work. He wasn't sure what was going on in the blur of clothes and fabrics and scissors and thread.

Rose walked into the huge building and met her stylist and they started working on her waxing he rlegs plucking her eyebrows doing her hair

River looked in the mirror - he wore dark brown leggings beneath a dark green tunic that appeared to have been constructed out of purely leaves. Vines were expertly woven into his tousled hair and his shoes were soft, dark brown boots. He looked like a tree. He wasn't sure what to think.

One of his stylists approached him with what looked like a brown pencil and started making dots on his cheeks. "What are you doing?" he asked.

"Oh, just making your freckles really stand out!" the woman exclaimed. "After all, your biggest asset in the Games will be your young appearance - no one will see you as a threat if you look so innocent and adorable!"

The way this woman was fawning over him, River half expected her to pinch his cheeks, but she didn't. Instead she stepped back and once again River saw himself in the mirror - the woman was right. He looked like a cute little kid.

Kailey expected them to put her in a coal miners costume or make he rnaked and cover her in coal. The head stylist walked in he was a new one this year and lloked pretty young. He adjusted her make up and did her hair( http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=h... )he then put her in a black dress that came mid thigh and some tight. When you turned a little switch on the dress glowed so it looked like she was on fire

River then was sent out to parade through the Capital and then be interviewed by the famous interviewer, Caesar Flickerman. He could practically hear the onlookers "aww"ing at his appearance. He was outraged - he didn't want to look like a ten year old! This was ridiculous.

She walked to her cariot where her district partner waited. they both got on the chariot and she looked arounf looking for Jaryd and River

River immediately looked behind him to the District 12 chariot, spotted Rose, and gave a halfhearted wave. He wasn't in the best of spirits - he looked ridiculous! But then he realized...his supplies were counting on him gaining the support and sympathy of viewers. He'd have to start acting it up if he didn't want to starve.

He plastered a grin onto his face, tousled his already-spiky hair, and waved cheerily at the crowd. He noticed the women pointing and grinning - "Look at that adorable little boy!" He even noticed one of them gesturing to her cheeks and then pointing to him - so maybe his freckles had made a difference. The parade continued on.

Sheen looked at his white costume then to the pure white horses in front of him. He was just becoming aware of the blinding light that hurt his eyes from all of the camera flashes in the mass of people. He kept a straight face and looked into the crowd. he spotted president snow in his high watchtower and he glowered up towards him. he would never forget the death of his young unsuspecting brother. The coating of makeup on his face was driving him nuts. he couldn't stand it. he looked at the girl tribute to his left. She was also a career. But then when he looked back he saw a amazingly beautiful girl from district 12. She had amazing sharp gray eyes that glowered into your soul. he wanted her as a allie

Rose waved back and looked around she spotted Jaryd and gave him a halfhearted smiled, her chariot started to move forward and she smiled and waved at all the people hoping one of them was rich. She wasn't cute and adorable like River or georgeous and sexy like some of the other girls so she needed to be nice and get the crowd to like her. She spotted President Snow and glared at him for a moment thinking about her parents and then went back to waving and smiling at the peopole. Alot of them stared at her glowing costume that looked as if she was enveloped in fire. She gave a silent thanks to her stylist he made her look great

Sheen looked down at himself. He was covered in gemstones that were supposed to relate to the precious stone mining in district 2. he looked into the crowd and flexed his muscles drastically. he saw one group of people point at him. he was for sure going to have sponsors. Now all he had to do was impress the game makers. He saw his face appear on the large screen and he gave the camera a almost sneer of a grin that was supposed to show his strength, demeanor, and fearlessness.

Jaryd noticed the halfhearted smile Rose gave him and returned it. She looks really good with her face like that... He quickly shook the thought away. Don't start caring about people, Jaryd. You'll only have to kill them in the end.
