i listen to really quite music, just as sort of a background sound...i cant write when its silent. i write best after i read.

I have a playlist of inspiring music by some of my favorite artists - Skillet, Evanescence, Fireflight, Flyleaf, Paramore, Disciple, Linkin Park, etc. And reading also helps, but you gotta be careful because you can sometimes subconsciously start writing too much like another author.
