no, i don't know anything about the book, it was just a funny coincidence. i will mull it over throughout the day and get back to you. but i'm sure other people will have good ideas...

i remember little enough about it, except it takes place ion the same time as the events of the song, and it has a christ-figure at its center, which is basically the point of that song. it is not my favorite john gardner, but i think it should invoke the same feeling... but maybe i am not good at this book/song thing. you tell me.

You can't ask how I know this, but every single British No 1 from the year 1967 has had the title subsequently used as the title of a novel. And they're all YA and Romance. I thought you needed to know that.
