Vampires, Werewolves, and Zombies. discussion

What would be your favorite all time monster? What monster would you be if you had a choice? And what is the scariest monster that you can think of?

I would be a wyvern. Not a dragon, because I see them as big and bulky, but a sleek, fast, ultra toothy, flying fearsome predator.

But that's not the scariest monster I can think of. The Alien in the second movie Aliens...that's the scariest...or an enormously big giant spider which amounts to the same thing, minus some quirks like acid-blood.

Pyramidhead from silent hill. Not many scare me, but he does. Actually everything from silent (the film) scares me.

I missed the other part of the question. If I was to "be" a monster I'd be a ghost or spectre of some kind. I like the possibilities of ghosts.

i love all monsters and supernatural creatures.so its hard to choose.but i have a very giant passion for monsters

My fav in film and literature is probably the vampire. I would like to be a werewolf, if I had to choose, because I would at least hold on to my humanity some of the time. The scariest creature, IMHO, will feature in one of my next novels, a Philipine demon/vampire know as Aswang (or Mennenangal). Interviewed an actual witness to this monster and expect the book to be a freaker when it's done.

That would definatly be the werewolf.

In either fiction or movies, I am a big fan of anything prehistoric. Seriously, you put a dinosaur on the cover of your YA romance novel, and I'm probably buying it (maybe :) . I have been a huge Godzilla fan since before I could walk.

My all-time favorite would have to be Giger's Alien, with an Honorable Mention going to the Weeping Angels from Doctor Who.

I've always been a fan of monsters that follow well defined rules.

Favorite monster would have to be Count Dracula (Bram Stoker's Dracula, no knock offs or film adaptations). What Monster would I be? That's a hard one cause vampires have no souls and who the hell wants to be a zombie! I don't have an answer for that one. Scariest monster? Definatley has to be a werewolf. Ever since I was a kid...and to this day...I've always had nightmares about being chased down and torn apart by a werewolves.

I like the idea of being a werewolf, the only thing that doesn't appeal to me is the whole full moon thing. I'd rather be able to control when the change happened. I don't know that I have a favorite monster..I'll have to think about that.

Favorite monster is werewolf but I'd beable to control my phases to whenever and I wouldn't be a mindless monster, I'd always be in control. Scariest I can think of is that whole Blood Mary thing with the mirror.

In the majority of old folk tales the change had little to do with a full moon, and often was induced at will by the werewolf/person(?) concerned. Much more fun to being a werewolf under these circumstances. :-)

Dragons. I keep having these nasty nightmares about a stalker Dragon. Lol. I might have to do a little therapy and write about it.

The Pale Man from Pan's Labyrinth (the guy with eyeballs in his hands) has always been a favorite. Though from a traditional selection of monsters, I've always had a thing for zombies. Those lovable undead bastards.

Lycan, because you still get control of your body and you get to be a wolf at the same time.

My favorite monster is C'thulhu. If I had a choice, I'd want to be a Skinwalker, all the fun of a werebeast but you get a stylish new accessory and none of the full moon troubles. The scariest monster to me would be an Incubus/Succubus, I mean they seduce you and then drain your vitality (as an offshoot of this would be the Cenobites from the The Hellbound Heart/Hellraiser film series oh the pleasures they promise).

Favourite monster? Hmmm, that's a tricky one...

I especially love the three iconic Universal movie monsters: the Wolf Man, Dracula and Frankenstein. I could not single out a particular favourite, because I like all three of them for different reasons.

I absolutely love dragons, hands down my favourite since childhood.
But would I want to be one? Probably not.

I would prefer to stay human, but if I had to choose, maybe something like a vampire. Immortality mixed with eternal youth, yes please!

Scariest is hard, everything would be equally scary if you came face-to-face with it, but I would have to say zombies. They haunt my nightmares sometimes, and they are a little too realistic for my liking.

I love wyvern's too, but I find in recent years the two have become synonymous with each other.

Smaug for instance from the Hobbit is considered a dragon, but in my opinion he would be a wyvern (wings + hind limps only). Saphira from Eragon would be my classification on a dragon (wings + fore limbs + hind limbs)

I am a huge dinosaur fan. My top three favourites are Stegosaurus, Spinosaurus (especially the new 'knock-dragger' version), and Amargasaurus (even though they say the twin sails were unlikely).

Overlooking their portrayal in pop culture over the past ten years or so...I'm going to go with Vampires. Vampires were always the scariest monster to me because they could blend in, and they just keep going while someone has to be bled to death every night for them to do so.

That is a interesting idea. I always thought of vampires needing a considerable amount of blood to live, but a whole person's worth each night? That is actually terrifying.

It depends on what you read/watch. They need to kill people to live forever. That's evil.

My favorite monster to meet would be female goth vampire, with tattoos and piercings. But that’s just me.

There are many monsters that stick out in my mind that I grew up fearing and enjoying, i.e. Puppet Master puppets (Blade, Tunneler, etc), Pinhead, zombies, Freddy, Pennywise, Killer Klowns, Jason, etc. For some reason, I always liked vampires the most, and felt they were the most versatile. That's why I based the antagonist of my Preternatural trilogy, Blackheart, off of various incarnations of vampires.

I just remembered one other creature that gave me legit nightmares when I was little...

Does anyone remember the movie adaptation of Stephen King's 'Cat's Eye?' The last story in the movie was about that troll that hid in the little girl's room and tried to steal her breath every night. Like watching it now I laugh, but I remember being afraid of that thing for years after I first saw it.

Another more recent monster that gave me the heebie jeebies was from the 2017 film "Life." Most excellent, highly recommended, in my humble...

Has to be the indoraptor from Jurassic World 2. That thing is creepy as hell!

I am a lover of zombies / undead (actually wrote a series myself). Probably because they look disgusting and scary and all the other stuff that goes along with them (e.g. collapse of society, loss of hope, potential rebuilding). I love the whole "everything you once knew is now gone" type thing.

My fav are the slow walking zombies like Day of the Dead (not the fast running ones that have become so popular in recent days).
