can someone tell me what mods are

"Mods" is short for "moderators," who are members of a goodreads group that "moderate" the group by making sure the members abide by group rules, use appropriate language, etc. Only other mods can appoint another member as a mod. In order to fulfill their duties as a mod, mods have the ability to delete others' comments and make other changes to the group. It is courteous that the moderator explain why a certain comment was deleted, and for members to respect a moderator's authority or risk being "kicked out" of the group. In most groups, there are anywhere from 1-5 moderators, who are usually people who have been members for a long time and have proven to be active and responsible. :D Currently we have at least one moderator from each branch.
