We have a ranting section so I decided to make a section for everyone to share their good news.

Cool! I hope it was a good visit. Sounds like it. What's the situation there? You can answer or not. :)I was just thinking about this topic the other day. I didn't even think of adding it though. My brain has not started operatring that way yet. :)
Ask and ye shall know...My dad has always had custody of me and my brother. But it was joint custody when I was in JA. When I moved here permanently he had sole custody of us and my mom didn't have a visa so she couldn't come to visit us. Now she has one so now we can see her. Long story short.
Sashana I'm so happy for you!! I lost my mom right before Christmas so I bet it is just the most amazing feeling to see her after 5 years!! and since I inadvertantly threw in bad news I'll throw in good news -I got a sony e-reader and am absolutely loving it!!! I waited so long!!
Mine is a PRS 300 so I'm guessing the same! It came with a case with a light and I just love it! So easy to use!!
My good news would have to be that the annual Friends of the Library sale is March 24-27 for me! Also, the new main library opens up on April 4. I cannot wait for either!
Sashana - that's awesome! I'm so happy for you! That must have been so exciting!Good news? Uh...after a 2 year on-and-off relationship, I've finally ended it for good. It doesn't feel good, but I know it'll be a bonus in the long run - I hope.
Sashana, How wonderful.Shannon, Sorry for your loss. :( But Yay for your new reader.
Carol, You share a birthday with my daughter. Happy Birthday a little early in case I forget to tell you one Saturday.
Alyssa, Congrats on doing a very difficult thing. It's not easy ending a long relationship even when you realize it's for the best.
Have fun Rachel and Carol! I love FOL sales...talk about a bargin!Alyssa, good for you. My advice is just to surround yourselves with loved ones and eat lots of chocolate.
Lisarenee, toatally random but did you pick the theme for you daughter's party yet? My friends all seem to have themed parties this year. I think it's really cool. So far I've seen a 80's party, a wii party, and a 'kiddy' party (a bunch of 18 year olds with pinatas and bounce houses)
Thank you Lisarenee!Alyssa good for you -maybe hard now but you'll be better in the long run!! And go with the chocolate!! :)
Lisarenee - that sounds like fun! That's actually a great theme. I had had a spa theme, I remember, and all I remember were my friends eating the cucumbers. And my destroyed nails by the end of the party. Your daughter's idea sounds less messy! Thanks for the support, guys. It's been hard, and I hear he's already moving on...but yeah, chocolate and I have been working on our relationship. He's sweet. ;)
LOL... He's sweet. That's a good one, Alyssa. I love that you are keeping a sense of humor through it all. That will be something that helps more than anything. :)
A spa party sounds very good. I love that idea. My friends would be toatally lost on the whole Heist Society theme since they don't read much but it sounds really fun.
@Alyssa~Good job on making the decision and sticking to it. I've been there and it isn't easy. My advice is to stay busy. Pick something new to learn and learn it full steam ahead. When I left my abusive husband (who was also a stick in the mud) at the young age of 22 I decided to get out there, where the fun was. I learned to ski and golf and joined a co-ed softball team. I also filled in on my mom's bowling team. I even went to movies that I wanted to see even if I had to go by myself.@Lisarenee~ Thanks! The weather is going to be gorgeous!
@Sashana~ Congrats! I hope you and your mom are having a blast.
@Shannon~ Congrats on the eReader. I haven't really thought about getting one though I wouldn't mind a tablet if I could access my book database, read books and listen to audiobooks on it. Is there such an electronic wonder out there?
@Carol: The iPhone? :) iPad might be better since it is bigger but I don't know about audiobooks. You probably could listen to them on it. err, my happy news is...I got picked for First Reads for the
. My first time. I was pretty excited but I'm nervous because I will feel obliged to read it quickly and review it.
I won it too! It so exciting! I can't wait to read it I've heard so much about it!! Congrats on your first first read Niquae!!!
Congrats to you too, Shannon. Is it your first win? I won two books a while back but I didn't read them because I couldn't get into them.
No I win alot! Love to get introduced to new books and authors that way! Reading Silent Partnerby Jennifer Chasethat I won recently and just love!!!
I got 3 ARCs from a group I signed up with via my new blog, www.seducedbyabook.com I've posted 2 of them, but need to wait until the end of April to post the 3rd. The books that have reviews up so far are
and
. Coming soon will be one for
. I hope I get more. They're posted on Goodreads as well so let me know what you think.
I finally had the guts to talk to this guy I've been crushing on since FOREVER for the first time. He was so sweet! :)
My good news is that starting next week I only have FOUR more weeks of student teaching left! 10 weeks of fourteen over and done with. :)
Nina ♥ wrote: "I finally had the guts to talk to this guy I've been crushing on since FOREVER for the first time. He was so sweet! :)"Good for you in having the courage. I think we always regret the things we don't do more than we regret the things we do. One of my best friends from high school had this major crush on this guy and sort of stalked him in a "cute" way. One day, to confirm his cuteness, she asked me to go to look at him. I was kind of sick of hearing about him by that point so I told her to just talk to him. She refused, so I went up and started to talk to him. Of course, I didn't mention her crush. But, gradually, he and I became friends. Never anything more, but really close friends. He never would go out with her- thought her behavior was odd by the time they "met".
Don't jump for joy just yet, but I am extremely excited because I found out today that my local Chapters (largest Canadian bookstore chain, equivalent of B and N in the US) wants to hire a whole bunch of staff! My application is in and my fingers are crossed, but I just hate the waiting! I have a really good feeling about this one though..
Thanks Lisa!! Yes, the discount is 30% and apparently goes up to 50% on a couple special "employee sale" days through the year (one of those days is right before christmas). If I get the job, I will definitely have to be careful not to filter all my earnings right back into the store by buying books...
If I was that employer I'd be looking at employees who love to read just to have the opportunity to reaquire their paychecks. LOL Good luck! All this good news is making me happy! Congrats to you all! :)
My good news is hubby brought home a bonus so we're heading to Home Depot for some skylights and flashing kits. Plus, the weather is due to be nice for Sat, his day off. I smell steaks on the grill, don't you? ;)
That's great Carol. With the economy the way it is a bonus is a rare thing. You two seem to be doing a lot of home improvements. Putting in skylights? I'd be afraid I'd accidentally add an additional shower on rainy days.lol That sounds like an interesting project.
The skylights are for the exterior library since there's no electricity out there. lol The flashing kits will hopefully help prevent any showers. We certainly don't want leaking skylights with all the books going in there!
