I've been resisting the zombie trend for as long as it's been around, but I just finished a book about the plague, and for some reason it seemed like a natural transition, so I'm reading World War Z. It's pretty good so far, I like the oral history format. Has anyone else read this? Is this the quintessential zombie book?

Sam Zuckerman really liked it. It was a hot ticket item two years ago (I think that is when it was big) and tons of lit chat kids read it.

Bartels, I think you're commenting as me. I give it to kids all the time even though I haven't read it myself. It seems to be one of the few that spans both middle and upper and is also a good one to give to non library kids.
