K. Z. Snow
K.Z., I've only read The Prayer Waltz, but it remains vividly in my mind. It is not only an intriguing story, it's thematically sound. I adore the image that brackets the story. I also admire the subject matter the story tackles. Not only a priest who leaves the priesthood but also a question without an answer. Wonderful work!
:)K.Z. I'm in love with Fanule Perfidor, Mongrel's main character, you know it.
I'm Fanule Perfidor-obsessed and I'd like to tell everyone to do themselves a favor and read this book. Fanule is very fascinating because he is flawed, he has outside scars, he is bipolar and he has a mixed nature (and his eyes are of two different colors), but he also follows a moral code that makes him compassionate and generous. Will, his other half, is as compassionate and generous as Fanule, and he puts himself in danger to help him. I loved how he took care of Fanule in his darkest moments. The secondary characters are wonderful and I don't know if we should expect something else from this world, but the vampire Clancy was awesome.
This is a steampunk novel, the world building is very interesting and you get to know it page after page, it comes alive before your eyes. A great book. I could rave about it for hours, please stop me!
Emanuela obsession is contagious... I try to avoid it [image error]but got it and now I'm obsessed too. BUT Manu and I decided to not fight to death to see who will have him. She can have Fanule, and I'll take [image error]Clancy (because I'm also a vampire obsessed[image error])
Great book (my review)!!!! , and I want MORE!
Hi, Bookwatcher! How generous of you to let Emanuela have Fanule. But are you sure you want Clancy Marrowbone? He's somewhat volatile, you know. Ridley Barron in my Utopia-X series is a much more civilized vampire. ;-)Thanks so much for reading and commenting on Mongrel. I LOVE enthusiastic readers!
Jase, you huggable sweetheart, no appearance on Goodreads feels right without a welcome from you! *smooch*
The release date for my next DSP book, Visible Friend, has been set for April 27. Maybe by then, spring will have reached my part of the world.Nah. That's expecting too much.
Visible Friend is now on Dreamspinner's Coming Soon page. Hit "Click to Zoom" beneath the book cover to see an enlarged version.Visible Friend also has a page on Goodreads. Not that it means much of anything at this point, but hey, it's there!
Happy Spring, everybody! (At least I hope it's finally here.) Later this week I'll be appearing at the blog of fellow author S.J.D. Peterson. There'll be an interview up on Thursday, April 7 and an excerpt from Visible Friend posted on Friday, April 8. You're all cordially invited to stop by if you have a chance and make comments or ask questions. Hope to see you there!
If you have any questions or comments (even critical ones!) about Visible Friend, feel free to post them here. I know the book's cover and content are both somewhat out of the ordinary. ;-)
K.Z. I've just bought Visible Friend. It will be only the second of your works that I'll read, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what you've done with another provocative subject. I was wondering the other day how you choose your topics, what books are *about* besides the romance. For me, my subject matters tend to choose me, but I detect some true method in your, ahem, madness!

You said everything I wanted to say about
Mongrelbut so much better than I could! It was such an amazing book! And I'm with you, I love Perfidor!!
I just purchased "Precious Boy" and "Visible Friend". I cannot wait to start reading!! K.Z. you Rock!
I'm going to read "Visible Friend" this weekend and I cannot wait. Definitely agree with Anita that Fanule Perfidor is an awesome character. How about a sequel? lol
Jenna, I honestly don't know how story ideas come to me. (Not that there's anything mystical about it, but I'm still not sure how the process works.)All I can say is that I've always been so fascinated by human nature and moved by people's experiences -- both are limitless in their variety -- that the slightest bit of anything can catch my attention and plant a story seed.
I've always loved the magical dimension of life, too. All the "what ifs" that lurk at the fringes of knowledge and form the basis of myths, legends, and fairy tales, and paranormal investigations, and even scientific inquiry. I guess that's why I often weave supernatural possibilities into the experiences I write about.
Regardless of subject, though, my focus is always on the characters. Human understanding might have its bounds, but the heart and soul and imagination have none.
Hi, Cheryl, and thank you! A sequel for Mongrel is still up in the air. I've thought about it, but the bottom line will be how many people seem interested.
I'm just here to say. Hi! And be a good fangirl. :-)Must get my butt in gear and get Visible Friend. OMG, it starts with V, I can use it to hammer out some more of that stupid challenge I started. Ah, you're so good to me.
Have a great weekend.

Any time you need a letter, Tam... :) Hey, thanks for stopping by!

Anita, see my reply to Cheryl's comment. Those of you who love Fanule love him greatly, I know, but...I'm just not sure there are enough of you!

I haven't totally discarded the idea, Anita. Right now I'm in "wait and see" mode. That world and its characters do have a lot of possibilities. ;-)
Can I add a voice for Mongrel sequel? Poor Marrowbone is all alone, maybe Fan and Will can play matchmakers. ^^precious_boy and Visible Friend are on my HD, just waiting for the right moment. I love the fact all your books are different.
Haha! I'm keeping track of the numbers, you know. Hmm ... *ticking them off on my fingers* ... I might be up to a half-dozen requests already!I'm glad you like variety, Lady*M. I obviously do too. :)
Thank you, Anita! I'm so glad you liked both stories in spite of the fact they're quite different from each other. Yeah, my imagination like to go a-wandering. :)
It looks like DSP will release Abercrombie Zombie in mid-August. No exact date yet. Oh . . . and I'll be writing a story for a Goodreads' M/M Romance Group member based on a photo she posted. Check out the group's Hot Summer Days forum (I think that's what it's called) to see what I'm babbling about.
will be let loose August 10, with another eye-catching cover by Anne Cain. You can find it on DSP's "Coming Soon" page.
Just received confirmation that my September or October release, The Zero Knot, will be issued in print as well as ebook. This will be my first paper edition from Dreamspinner. I'm really thrilled! :)
Congratulations, K.Z., that is just AWESOME!! I cannot wait for both Abercrombie Zombie and The Zero Knot coming my way :)
Thanks so much, Ami. Mongrel was almost long enough to make it into print, but not quite. Now I've finally squeaked into the official "novel zone." :)I'm very proud of The Zero Knot. It was an emotional write for me.
Aw, that's so nice of you to say. <3 You're incredibly supportive of writers in this genre. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's grateful for that.
Chris, the M/M Contest Queen, is offering a free download of
at her excellent blog, Stumbling Over Chaos. You have until August 9 to throw your name into the hat. (No biggie; just leave a comment.)Many thanks, again, to this Minneapolitan who puts so much time into promoting m/m romance!
I need to thank some nice folks for taking the time to read and post reviews of my last DSP release. (Sorry I can't mention every GR reader who's done the same, but that would be kind of weirdly stalkerish. *g* I'm grateful to all of you, though. And I mean really grateful. <3) Lilyraines at Night Owl Reviews has just designated
a Reviewer Top Pick. Many thanks, as well, to Lisa at Top 2 Bottom Reviews, Wave at Reviews by Jessewave, Lena at Queer Magazine Online, and Kerri at Man Oh Man Reviews for also devoting their time to Visible Friend. You all can find links to their comments at my blog, http://kzsnow.blogspot.com.
