It's time once again to nominate titles for the monthly Theme book. This is for the April Theme: Future Fantasy and will be read starting April 15th.

Once we have 5 or 6 nominations, we'll vote - I'm guessing around mid-week sometime.

Nominations
Armageddon's Children by Terry Brooks
Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover by Marion Zimmer Bradley
Never Deal with a Dragon by Robert N. Charrette

Alternate Nominations - 2 of 3 matches
Lamentation by Ken Scholes
Swan Song by Robert R. McCammon

I'm going to nominate Armageddon's Children by Terry Brooks. I've never read the Shannara novels (OK, I read the first one a billion years ago but that's it). This is the first in the prequel trilogy and has piqued my curiosity.

(actually, if I'm understanding the genre properly, many of the Darkover books would qualify as "future fantasy," especially Darkover Landfall or any of the post-Terran recontact books.

I looked and I can only find Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover on Amazon UK - which is a Darkover short story anthology. But it is available on Amazon and as a Nookbook so I can add that as the nominated one if you like ....

As for the genre, I'm thinking you're barking up the right tree - fantasy elements or fantasy worlds set in our future ... I originally wanted to nominate Chalker's Spirits of Flux and Anchor but I don't think it's ebooked anywhere.

I've never read this author, but it's been flying through my intrest zone for some time: Lamentation by Ken Scholes. Not available in the UK, alas, but sod a dog, it looks good.

"This remarkable first novel from an award-winning short fiction writer will take readers away to a new world – an Earth so far in the distant future that our time is not even a memory."

Marcus (biomimetic) | 1 comments Hmmm- I'm so torn right now, but Armageddon's Children has reminded me of a book I loved long ago.

Swan Song

I remember this book being so gripping- I'd love to read it again and get some other perspectives.

Both Lamentation by Ken Scholes and Swan Song by Robert R. McCammon are great choices and neither are available in Amazon UK - which is always our sticking point in choices ....

I went hunting and came up with:

Never Deal with a Dragon by Robert N. Charrette

Ack! Why didn't I think of Shadowrun! That series was an old favorite of mine...
