Hi, too many to list but here goes... been reading a long time LOLAlways have to say Agatha Christie. I read most of hers in paperback many years ago. They were/are the only books I enjoy re-reading, and can still be stumped! I've also gone through the likes of Karen Slaughter, Kathy Reichs, Jonathan & Faye Kellerman. Patricia Cornwell, PD James, Robin Cook, Ruth Rendall... and Stephen King (more horror tho)... so many! For True Crime I like Ann Rule and Greg Olsen, among others.
I took a break from reading and then discovered audiobooks, now I'm devouring a whole new generation of authors. But it's nice to see a lot of the older ones still being enjoyed.
Lately, I've enjoyed the Stephanie Plum series, and some Amelia Peabody... just read Lisa Gardners DD Warren series which was great and am currently enjoying Cody McFadyen! whew!!
Wow!! I've never read most of the authors you said! I've just started on collecting + reading Agatha Christie's novels and I have to agree its awesome! :)I've heard a lot about Lisa Gardner, but haven't had the opportunity to read any of her books. If there's any that you could recommend to me...It'll be appreciated XD
And one more thing...what do you mean by true crime?
True crime is actual crime. It really happened. Like Vincent Bugliosi's Helter Skelter: The True Story of the Manson Murders or Larson's The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America. Harold Schechter also writes a lot of true crime. I've always had a problem with Ann Rule. I think I have one of her books on the shelf now. But she worked with Ted Bundy. How could you work with someone like that and not know anything? I know, that's why she went into writing about true crime.
Ann Rule is very consistant in giving a very good, clear story around whatever crime she writes about. It gets personal, you feel you know as much as can be known, without it being sensational or even biased. I really like her. Her book Small Sacrifices was the first True Crime I read and I spent the entire night waking hubby with 'can you believe that!' and 'listen to this!' ... then I read Jeff McDonald's Fatal Attraction and my time reading only True Crime had begun. I collected over 300 individual books before I finally stopped, maybe in the nick of time, husband called it research ;)Now I'm enjoying getting back into fiction, good clean serial killer fun!
ps Lots of people worked with, and even worse, socialised with Ted Bundy... I think that's the real scary part, these people did have lives *shudder*
I've heard a lot about Lisa Gardner, but haven't had the opportunity to read any of her books. If there's any that you could recommend to me...I really enjoyed the DD Warren series. Not a cosy :)
It starts with Alone and I think they should be read in order. There are now five in the series and all are good or better :) I listened to them and should say Anna Fields narrated the 1st and I don't like her, but still got through it and wanted more :)
She peels the people you meet, layer by layer, nothing is ever really what it seems. I loved it!

The Devil in the White City (other topics)Helter Skelter: The True Story of the Manson Murders (other topics)

I listen to books (by choice) and - mostly - to mystery, crime and thrillers, lol. I like twists and suspense as well as the odd cozy, and love to discover a new good series.
