I chose to read The Year of the Flood by Margaret Atwood because many people recommended the book to me. I like the fact that this book deals with topics like genetic mutation and splicing, crime, and corruption. Another interesting thing about this book is that it seems eerily plausible.
I have not previously read anything by Margaret Atwood, but I heard she is a very talented author, and that this book in particular is very good. After doing a bit of research, I found out that Margaret Atwood has won the Arthur C. Clarke award (a British award for science fiction writing), the Prince of Asturias Award for Literature, has been shortlisted for the Booker Prize five times, winning once, and has been a finalist for the Governor General's Award seven times, winning twice.
For these reasons, I have decided to read "The Year of the Flood" by Margaret Atwood.
