Nothing But Reading Challenges discussion

Saw Alicia's question about a romance trope which got me thinking of the different types of tropes there are. It'd be great to compile a list since I like to list my romance novels in trope-categories as well. Perhaps even listing books with a certain trope would be helpful?

The site tvtropes, which is also mentioned in the thread Sashana linked, has what seems like a pretty exhaustive list of common romance novel tropes here and here. I got a good chuckle out of "estrogen brigade bait", haha.

I agree with niquae though, it could be fun and useful to work on making a list of tropes we see a lot. The only romance trope I have a shelf for is "love triangles", and I do notice virgin tropes a lot. Yet I think most of the time I don't even notice tropes when I'm reading, which is a shame because I'd like to become better at engaging with and thinking analytically about the stuff I read.
