Lilac watched nervously as Yang Weign competed on balance beam for China. She had won gold last year, but Lilac was determined. She was originally from France, and had lived there for 16 years until she came and became a citizen of the US.
Jade took his place on the board ready to dive in. "on ur mark, get set *BANG!* He dove and started swimming and swimming, lap after lap and he finally reached the end in first place, by a landslide! "Ah well u can win them all, hot shot." his coach said to him as he got his Gold medal. He watched as Riley Mason received her gold. "u r very good." he said to Riley in his deep sexy Brazilian accent.
Noelle smiled rather nervously at her coach. She knew she had what it took to win golds, but she knew everybody here was good. She stretched as she wondered if it was possible to be die of nervousness. She shut the thoughts out of her mind.
"i thought u'd never ask." jade said.
Riley laughed, then without another word, left. He'd call later. She signed a few autographs, then got into her car. She drove to her hotel.
Jade left the stadium, signed some autographs, and got in his lambo and drove to his hotel.
Riley got a call from her coach. "Riley, you have practice in twenty" he said. She sighed. Some times, she wished she could just spend her afternoons doing nothing. She drove to the practice pool which was nextdoor to the stadium. She suited up and began practice.
Riley ran into Noelle when she arrived. "Hi Noelle! I've heard so much about you! I hear your a very fierce competitor too" She complimented.
Sophie was stretching and watching Lilac on the Balance Beam. She was next for the US. Her routine was perfect. She chalked up her hands and then high-fived Lilac as she came off of the beam. Sophie jumped onto the Balance Beam and then did her routine. When she was finished, she heard the crowd roar with approval. She smiled and breathed in deep. She knew she would win the gold this year. No doubt about that.
Jade was position to win. The gun was shot, and he was a bullet in the water he swam so fast that he broke a world record and a few hearts as Riley hugged him when he got out of the water. Another step closer to getting that coveted gold.
When Sophie high-fived her she smiled broadly and whispered good luck. When she was gone, she glared at her with hatred. She turned around to talk to her coach. Lilac was the best on the uneven bars, and she also excelled at the floor routine and vault.
"I'm sorry," said Sophie walking over to Lilac," I really am. You're way better then me... I just love the Balance Beam and the Uneven Bars. I am an all-around, but I don't excel at everything like you do..."
Riley watched the male swimming competition. She was up in a couple of hours, so she stretched some. She decided she'd check out the rest of the competitions as well, so she headed over to the gym. She had always been a fan of gymnastics. She watched Lilac take the bar. She finished her routine and the crowd errupted in cheers. She clapped two, "That was amazing" she said under her breath. Next was Sophie. Riley watched in amazement. If she were a judge, she definitely wouldn't be able to choose. She applauded loudly as Sophie lept off the bar. She checked her watch, "Almost time to go" she muttered.
Lilac apologized to Sophie. "I'm sorry, I just get really competitive!" she said. She watched Sophie on the uneven bars and applauded loudly. She saw the score and her mouth dropped open. I was a tie! An exact tie right down to the last number! They would have to award two golds!
Riley was on her way out when she bumped into Shane. "Oops, sorry!" She said, realizing it was the olympic track runner represtenting the USA. "You're Shane right?" She asked.
"Oh my gosh! Lilac we're tied! That's awesome! Now we both get gold!" She was jumping up and down. She hugged her friend and went to wipe off the chalk from her hands.
Noelle was really disappointed in herself for not doing as well as she'd hoped, but then she felt better after she realized the high score was still a full 2.375 behind her best score. She had reached a difficulty level of 8.3, something no other gymnast in the world could do. She smiled to herself and accepted her silver medal with a smile too big to fit the stadium. She then was obliged to do floor, in which she did several stunts, getting a full 10 on the execution level. After wards she competed in the all-around, getting high scores on every event. She knew she had a very good chance for the golds on these two events.
Riley cheered for Noelle, while watching her performance with Shane. "Well...gotta go" She told him as she headed back to the pool.
Jade was in the stands watching Riley warm up to do her swim meet.
Noelle received both of her golds with grace and smiled beautifully at the stands and waved at all the spectators. She glanced back once before smiling again, bigger this time. She was very happy and loved all the attention, although she always got wound up after being in the center of attention too long. As she walked out her coach congratulated her and she thanked him profusely.
Riley heard the gun shot, then dove as fast as she could. "Keep focus....speed...you can do it....the gold is all mine...speed..." She coached herself in her mind.
Noelle was watching the swimming. Riley seemed to be winning, but what did she know? She sighed and turned around, walking towards who-knows-where. She smiled weakly and hoped she would be in tip-top shape for the beam and vault tomorrow.
Sophie sighed as Noelle got the other two golds of the day. She bowed her head and grabbed her jacket and her backpack. She walked out of the stadium and into the changing rooms. She threw on her jeans and her tee-shirt and left. She walked out to her corvette. Before she could get in, her ex-boyfriend, Brad, stopped her. He asked her back out and she said no. She didn't know whether it was the right thing to do, but she did it anyway. The next day, at the preliminaries, Sophie was up on the Balance Beam. She jumped up and did half of her routine, but then just as she went to flip, she fell off of the balance beam. She hit the mat and went totally blank. The last thing she heard was the gasps from the crowd...
"Sophie!" screamed Lilac. She ran out on to the floor, following the paramedics who had her on a stretcher.
"Sophie!" Riley screamed, running towards her. There were several people crowded around. After a minute, an ambulance left with Sophie attached to a stretcher.
Sophie had been thinking about Brad when she had fallen. She was thinking how stupid she was and how she had thrown away her life by not giving him another chance. Her back had broken the fall, but she had sprained it. She might be better by the next day, or not. She could be out of the Olympics for good...
"Sophie! Sophie!" screamed Lilac. She was sitting in her room in the hospital. When her eyes opened, she screamed "What the heck were you thinking?! You never fall! NEVER!"
Jade really felt bad about Sophie. but it put Braizl ahead of the Americans.
"I know I never fall... I just couldn't clear my head like I usually do... Our coach might not let me compete anymore... I could have blown my whole life's dream..."
"What were you thinking about? I know you weren't nervous. What were you thinking about?" hissed Lilac.
"Brad..." whispered Sophie," My mind was filled with tons of questions."
"You fell off the beam, almost ruined America's chances of gold, and almost injured yourself for a boy?!" Lilac hissed angrily. Her teeth were clenched and it seemed they would stay that way forever.
"No. I fell off because I wasn't paying attention. I swear I felt something hit me... I swear I did. It hit my knee and then I tipped and fell."
"I watched the instant replay. Nothing you can see hit you, except maybe..." said Lilac, replaying the fall in her mind.
"Except what?" asked Sophie. To prove something had hit her, she showed Lilac the bruise on the back of her knee. It had hit her and then she had winced in pain as her knee buckled and she fell off of the beam.
"Well, I remember this tiny object, but I thought it was a glitch in the camera or something. It looked like a marble... a marble being shot at you." she said slowly.

"A marble?" asked Sophie skeptically," Why would they hit me with a marble?"
"I don't know! Maybe they didn't want to kill you but they wanted you to fall! You're on a balance beam. You waver a little and you go ka-plunk."
"Right!..." said Sophie," Brazil! I'll ki..." Lilac stopped her before she could finish her sentance.
"Shush it girlfriend. Do you really think it was Brazil?" asked Lilac, even though she didn't really care if Sophie had finished the sentence. Lilac hated Brazil as much as the next girl.
Riley sat in the waiting room of the hospital. They finally let her in. She opened the door slowly. "Hey Sophie, how are you?" She asked.
Noelle had seen Sophie fall and felt extremely awful, though it did get her the silver even though she felt she hadn't earned it. She knew Sophie deserved the gold, and she could tell Sophie didn't just fall. Noelle had fallen just like that once, and it was because something had hit her. Noelle shoved the medal away. She didn't want to look at it because she didn't think she deserved it. She knew she could do something. She grabbed a copy of the replay and went to the judges office. There was no way she was letting this slip. She showed them the tape angrily and zoomed in. The judges nodded and began to converse with one another.--
In fifteen minutes, an announcement was made. The lead judge said that by no means they would take away the medals of the gymnasts who had received them for the event, but the could give the "fallen American girl" as they called her, a gold medal with an honorary award attached to it. Noelle didn't like this, as it wasn't what she'd wanted. She sighed.
Riley wasn't very pleased with the judges decision. It wasn't going to help anyone in anyway. Except, Sophie would get a pitty award! Of course that wasn't going to help anything...She grabbed a tape and studied the audience. It was very hard to see, but she thought she could make out someone holding a sling shot!
Sophie glared at Lilac. "A pity award! I don't need that! I'd rather get no place in the standings before I take that!" She was fuming. This wasn't funny. Who had made her get this? "I bet it was Brazil. Those no-good-rotten-stupid-bratty-little twerps!" She sat upright and glared. Her eyes piercing anything they could find.
Noelle glared at the judges again before warming up for vault. She felt bad about what happened, but her coach was insistent on her doing it anyway. She agreed reluctantly and began warming up again. It won't help America, he had said, if you don't compete. She sighed. She was good at vault, but today she would be distracted.
Riley prepared for her practice laps. She slipped into her swim-suit and walked out of the locker room. On the way out of the locker room a big woman, also preparing for her laps, walked straight into Riley, pushing her backwards into the pool. She went down pretty far, but coming at amazing speed was another swimmer practicing. The two slammed into eachother. Riley couldn't get out of the pool. She felt herself getting dizzy, before finally passing out. She could feel herself being carried out of the pool. Soon she woke up in the hospital, to the relief of her American swim team. She let out a sigh. She already knew she wouldn't be able to compete for a while.
