Miranda (miranda_fall) I think I'm just about to start reading a lot of Dean Koontz novels. Does anyone have any recommendations? Ones that are particularly good/fun/interesting/cool?

Personal favorite is Cold Fire, along with Darkfall and Strangers. Don't read too many, though, after a while you realize that there are only about 4 stories in there, told over and over.

Werner | 2052 comments I'm hoping the Koontz fans who've already commented here, and others who haven't yet, can help me out with a few Koontz questions that relate to my job! Here at the BU library, although we don't separate ALL of our fiction into a separate collection from the nonfiction, as public libraries do, we do have special collections for (among other things) Mystery, Science Fiction, and Fantasy/Supernatural Fiction.

Long story short, we've gotten a number of donated books by Dean Koontz. My firsthand acquaintance with his work consists of exactly two short stories. Many of the books probably should go into one of these special collections, and in some cases, from the blurbs or Goodreads descriptions (which are usually the same), I can tell which one it should go in. I also know that his Odd Thomas series is supernatural fiction. But in some cases, it's hard to tell.

The nine books that are perplexing me are: Breathless, The Darkest Evening of the Year, Dragon Tears, Innocence, Life Expectancy, Lightening, Strange Highways, What the Night Knows, and Your Heart Belongs to Me. Can you folks tell me anything about the genre of any of these books? Thanks for any help that you can give me!

Deb Atwood | 448 comments Wish I could help out. I've probably read ten or so Koontz books (love The Face!), but I haven't read any of these. It's true that some of his books have a supernatural bent and others don't.

Werner | 2052 comments Thanks anyway, Deb! I've decided for now to just stick them in our Leisure Reading collection; I figure that should work. :-)
