Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 270 comments This is the place for random comments, rants, etc. Pretty much whatever is on your mind, whether it's related to books or not.

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 85 comments That's smart!

message 3: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I love the chat folders.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) So what do you want to talk about?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 270 comments Me? You don't want me to start chatting. I say random stuff like this...

My 2 year old was watching Handy Manny (a Disney preschool cartoon) this morning and I realized that I am far too romance addicted, when I was starting to wonder how long it was going to take for Manny and Kelly to hook up

message 6: by Ottilie (new)

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 85 comments hahaha I it's like when you look back at your old tv shows and you go come on you totally like each other! Come on!

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) That's funny. Also goes to show how bored you are :)

message 8: by Ottilie (new)

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 85 comments hahaha you have no idea...

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 270 comments I just have a mind that is always working in 20 different directions. I could be walking to the kitchen to do dishes and will randomly think of an answer to a conversation from a few days prior.

message 10: by Ottilie (new)

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 85 comments i hate when that happens!

I wanna talk about food. Food is one of my favorite subjects. The Melting Pot, man, I'm having a hella craving.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 270 comments Get out. I want to go now. Thanks for that. I lurve fondue. Their beer cheese fondue is so good. And the peanut butter chocolate dessert.

For the main course, I used to like the coq au vin (sp), but found after going a few times, that just getting the hot oil to cook it in is the best, which is one of the cheaper options.

We have a local fondue place that's owned by a couple in town which is even better than Melting Pot (sounds impossible, right?). They have a brie fondue that is to die for.

message 13: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 25, 2011 04:00PM) (new)

Sorry! I have been craving it forever. And, unfortunately, my friends are not all cool enough to enjoy awesome fondue. I usually get the coq au vin too but I'll try the oil next time.

I love the green goddess though. Oh. My. Stars!

I wish there was a fondue restaurant closer to where I live. The Melting Pot is a good hour away either direction.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 270 comments That is good too!

Restaurants I Wish Were Closer to Where I Live:

Melting Pot
Chili's
Carabba's

That is all ... for now.

PS: I was stalking their website and now I'm really hungry for it.

message 16: by Hillary (new)

Hillary (eledri) To get to any decent awesomeness restaurants I have to drive a minimum of 30 minutes, usually 45+. Small towns man.

And don't get me started on fondue...oh..my..god!

Speaking of Chili's have yall ever had the salsa-ranch? My my my SO GOOD.

Anywho...

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) I don't drive so I order in. I have to have someone who drives take me to restaurants like Chilis etc. I have plenty of restaurants by me. Right niow I am having pizza for dinner.

message 18: by Ottilie (new)

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 85 comments mm chocolate and peanut butter!

message 19: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 25, 2011 04:38PM) (new)

True story: Elle doesn't like pizza. I have heard that is un-American.

Elle does love pots of melted cheese though. Mmm!

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) If pizza is un American, many Americans don't know that. I do like fondue. I went to the melting pot once. It is really expensive though.

message 21: by Ottilie (new)

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 85 comments if you did like pizaa too i would suggest pizza fondue

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

It is. I usually only go once a year. Maybe twice if I'm lucky.

That is what all my friends say. "Who does't like pizza? That is like un-American."

message 23: by Ottilie (new)

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 85 comments then I'm a little weird, I'm not really into sauce so when I eat pizza I leave pieces behind

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) I can't have meat today so cheese and black olive pizza for dinner. I had tuna for lunch.

message 25: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) I feel fortunate to be surrounded by awesome food year round.

message 26: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (veronica_mitchell) In my town, the best thing we have is Olive Garden. I have to drive 45 minutes to find a Chili's and 2 and a half hours to a Melting Pot.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) I like Olive Garden :)

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

As far as chain Italian places go, I love Carabba's and Romano's Macaroni Grill much more than Olive Garden. But Italian is my favorite so I'm pretty much excited for anything Italian.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) We had Italian food catered for lunch on Tuesday :)

message 30: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (veronica_mitchell) Italian is my favorite. I love Olive Gardens salad, the dressing is awesome! I have eaten at Macaroni Grill once and really liked it. Once again it is one of those that the nearest one is an hour away.

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

Carabba's has the best house dressing! Mmm. And they put carrots in their salad which I love with a capital L.

message 32: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Mexican all the way. I've only had fondue once, and it was a cheese fondue. Oh, and I've had chocolate, but it feels like that's not a real fondue.

On another note, my husband just told me that I'm having a midlife crisis because I just died my hair purple. Not ALL purple. only the underneath, the top hair is a dark brown. I've always wanted to dye some of my hair purple and it only took me to the ripe old age of 32 before I'd actually do it.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) Tomorrow I will be a brunette :). I never been a real brunette before.

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

I've always wanted to die my hair any kind of unique color but I've never been brave enough to go much beyond my natural color.

One time I accidentally dyed it a really dark chocolate brown and because I'm so fair and my natural color is blond, I sort of looked like Morticia Adams.

Are you coloring your hair brown, Jayme?

message 35: by Emi (new)

Emi *twiddles thumbs* I'veneverhadfonduebefore.

I've never died my hair before, either. I've thought about it, or at least giving my hair some light brown highlights (my hair is chocolate brown) but I always chicken out when I think about how much it'll cost to maintain it. Especially when that money can go towards books.

How'd it turn out, Jayme? :D

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) I haven't dyed it yet. I am thinking of going a medium brown. The hair color I was born with is ash blonde/ dirty blonde, salt and pepper color and it is ugly. So I want it one color and it will be closer to my natural color. I really like being a redhead. However I decided to try something new.

message 37: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Mar 25, 2011 11:24PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 270 comments I used to dye it every couple of months in high school, and have tried just about every hair color in the rainbow, including versions of pink and purple. I look best with either dark brown or reddish brown hair. Blonde and black are both too harsh for me.

Recently, a few little grays have been popping up, so I fear that it won't be long before I have to start dying full time. It's not fair that I'm going gray in my 30's...wtf?

message 38: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) We found a gray hair on my head last night when we were dying, too. It was an odd feeling, lol.

I dye my hair all the time. I've stuck to mostly blondes, reds and brunettes. This is my first time adding in a non-natural hair color. It turned out pretty good, I say.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) I been dying my hair since I was 19. I always loved red hair so that's what I have been.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) I have now joined the ranks of brunettes. I have chestnut brown hair with red undertones. It came out nice. :)

message 41: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (andreaorva) Jayme(the ghost reader) wrote: "I have now joined the ranks of brunettes. I have chestnut brown hair with red undertones. It came out nice. :)"

Awesome, I'm brunette with red undertones as well! That's =because i've dyed my hair red like six times lol

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

I've never had the guts to completely dye my hair, but I've always wanted crazy colored streaks! I put a pink streak in my hair a few months ago and I totally loved it. Buuut, then the pink all washed out and now I just have a bleached streak. I wish I had blond hair so I could dye it easier!

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) I had my hair dyed red for the last 15 years so the red will be there.

message 44: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) I'm too terrified of dying my hair. It's brown but in summertime when I'm outside a lot it turns blonde on its own, so I never really bothered.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) I figure any normal hair color would look better than ugly old ash blond.

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

Ugly old ash blond is my natural color, Jayme. I hate it. I frequently color mine. Right now it is a strawberry blond color.

message 47: by Jayme(theghostreader) (last edited Mar 27, 2011 08:16AM) (new)

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) That was mine too :) I refuse to go back to my real hair color. Mine is a chestnut brown now. Strawberry blond is pretty. :)

message 48: by Berit (new)

Berit (grinninberit) | 27 comments Ooh, just saw this thread! So much to catch up on.

Fondue! YUM! When I became vegetarian, my whole family agreed to change our Christmas Ham dinner to cheese fondue instead. :)

Hair dyeing! Let me tell you, friends, it is NOT easier to dye your hair if you are naturally blonde. Well, I suppose it would be if I were willing to bleach it first, but since bleaching pretty much kicks the crap out of one's hair, I am somewhat reluctant. But I do loves me some green, blue, pink, or purple streaks/chunks. I've also had crazy-colored synthetic extensions, which was awesome because the color stayed bright and fabulous for months, unlike the unbleached-dyed streaks. When I dyed my hair purple for Halloween this year, it faded out to gray for about a week. Ick.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 270 comments I would love to start a New Year's Eve fondue party tradition. Every year I say we'll do it and I never do.

message 50: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey "Blue" (bbblue) | 23 comments I did blue streaks in my hair a few years back. It was really fun. That is until it started to fade to a grayish green-blue! I went to my hairdresser to fix it and was in the studio for 6-7 hours!:( It was brutal! I have blonde hair so it just soaked the blue up and made changing it difficult to say the least. It looked great when I left though.
