Saffy slowed when she entered the Great Hall, which was already filling with students. She smiled as she sat down at the Ravenclaw table, drinking in the clamor of Hogwarts like a starved person eats food. "It's good to be back." she whispered, but the sound of the words didn't even reach her own ears.

Saffy nodded in greeting as Meira passed.

Tren and Layla smiled and waved Meira over to them."Welcome to Slytherin!" Tren said, smiling.

Cartin was sitting at the Gryffindor table quietly.

Court sat at the Ravenclaw table, trying to ignore some of the kids who were teasing him.

"Welcome to Ravenclaw!" Saffy said, though she wasn't sure if her words were heard over the cheering.

Cartin shrugged, "Not everyone can be a Gryffindor."

Court smiled a welcome at Jim and Pam.

"If anyone gives you flack about being Slytherin ignore them," Layla said, smiling. "We're not as bad as we look. Not all of us, anyway."

Tren smiled, "Ah, an expert at those spells, are you?"

"You're like Layla and magical creatures. They love her, and she's amazing with them." Layla blushed and looked down, "It's no big deal."

"Welcome to Ravenclaw," Court said.

Saffy glaced up at the remaining unsorted first years. "I wish we could just start the feast."

Court blushed and looked down."So do I," he said to Saffy.

((nobody else needs to be sorted, right? Good.))

The last first year was sorted and McGonagall stood. "Let the feast begin!" The platters on the table filled with food and Saffy started to dish food onto her plate.

Court served himself and smiled, then started eating the delicious food.

Cartin grinned and served herself, then began eating, famished.

Tren and Layla served themselves and started to eat, not realizing how hungry they'd been.

"How was your holiday, Zia?" Layla asked.

Saffy started to eat, slowly putting bites into her mouth. "I bet the teachers are going to start bugging us about OWLs this year."

Court groaned, "Great."

Layla nodded.

"They are rather important. And I have no doubt that standardized tests here are harder than they are in the muggle world."

"True, but that doesn't make them any more enjoyable."

Chill sits next to Zia.

"I guess how about you?"

"No thank you.." Smiles.

He sits there under his hood. He talks to himself. "Yes, I will.. I will prove them wrong."

"I've heard that the written sections are as boring as history of Magic."

"Ugh. That's just great." Court said sarcastically.

"Definitely. I'm thinking of seeing if I can get on our house's team."

"Yeah. I wonder what new questions the knocker will come up with this year."

"Yeah." Court said, nodding.

She lapsed into silence again, listening to the happy chattering all around her. This, she supposed, is why she loved Hogwarts so much. Everyone spoke their minds without having to worry about causing international incedents or insulting some forign prince.

"Penny for your thoughts." Court said to Saffy.

"Cool," Cartin said, smiling.

"I love hogwarts, how everyone can say whatever they want. At home, when we have guests, we have to be very careful about what we say and how we phrase our words."

"Yeah, it's a good atmosphere." Court agreed.

"Ah," Cartin said, smiling.

"Plus, it normal." She thought about what she had just said and chuckled. "Or at least as normal as a school that teaches magic can possibly be."

Court smiled, "In the grand scheme of things, normal is just another word people try to live up to."

"Haha, nice," Cartin said, finishing her food and moving on to dessert.

"Then I'll use the word natural instead of normal. People naturally speak their minds, where's at home this type of conversation at formal dinners isn't natural."

"Good choice of words," Court said. "It fits well."

"Thanks. In my adopted family, the way to properly word things is the first skill you learn."

"Ah," he said, nodding.

"And you thoughts?"

"I just hope we don't have to deal with another wizard like... Voldemort for a while."

"Haven't you heard of Lord Foe? People are saying he's the new Dark Lord."

"Great," Court said sarcastically. "We couldn't have a break?"

She shrugged. "Lucifur never sleeps."

((good night.))

"Guess not."

"Everyone was."

((Just eating the feast. Nothing, really.))

"That's cool," Layla said, smiling. "I'm not agile enough on a broom to be on the team."

He shrugged, "Keeper. It's a pretty good position for someone with fast reflexes."

Tren grinned, "We could always use a new player."

"No, it goes back to the kitchens I think," Layla said. "I'm not sure what they do with it.... maybe they let the house elves have it."

Tren looked thoughtful, "I don't think they just throw it out. But it's a good question..."

Saffy put some cake on her plate. "The house elves are amazing cooks."

"We should ask," Layla suggested, taking some cheesecake.

Court nodded in agreement, "They are!"
