"Yeah, me too, but there's nothing to do about it." she looked around the arithmancy classroom, smiling. "Oooh, this looks like it'll be a fun class!"
"It must be more interesting than normal math - there are so many useful applications, like making new spells!"
"Yeah, it must be. I can't imagine learning math and then not applying it to something interesting."
"That's pretty much geometry." Saffy said with a smile. "But this is more like algebra, I think."
((though I don't see how it can help with spells, it's pretty much number-based fortune telling.))

((good thing they got to class!))
Saffy took her seat just as the bell rang. She started to get out her books as the teacher, Professor Vector, came down the steps from her office into the room.

((gtg))
Professor Vector began writing on the board and Saffy began copying down the information.

((I shall do that if she is at school tomorrow, for I know she doesn't pay much attention to our charries on this rp. Right now, at least.))
((someone could get pulled from class to find out their parents died? That would give us some discussion.))
((sure, but how do we get Saffy to come? I don't want her to be all alone... that would be sad.))
((It would be. Hm... Maybe someone from the court, like a cousin or something, was also in the same area? I don't know...))
((Sounds good. Her favorite cousin, tragically injured... :) or killed. Whatever. Ooh, her cousin died saving Court's dad! Or not. Thoughts?))
About a quarter of the way through the class, a timid-looking first year entered the classroom. "Professor?" he said shyly. Professor Vector kept talking, but gestured for the boy to show her the note he was carrying. The Professor didn't like to be interrupted, and so she never paused in her lessons without a valid reason. The boy handed her the note and she glanced down at it, suddenly stopping. Saffy looked on calmly, inwardly confused but not showing even a modicum of interest - she still had her mask on.
"Mr. Artin, Miss Silver, your head of house wishes to speak with you. You are excused, get the remainder of today's notes from one of your classmates later."
Saffy nodded and stood, now even more curious as to what was the matter but still keeping her face blank.

((*shrugs* Whatever you want to do. It doesn't matter to me.))Court raised an eyebrow, curious about what he and Saffy were wanted for. 'Did someone hear us talking in the hall?' he thought, frowning as he gathered his things and followed Saffy out.
"So what do you think Professor Flitwick wants to speak with us about?" Saffy asked after a minute of walking in silence. Her voice was as blank as her face.
He shrugged, "I don't know... It could be anything, really." He shifted his books in his arms and frowned.
"It must be serious, then. The Professor doesn't ever stop like that; at least, not that I've seen. I hope everything is all right..."
((we should switch to hallways.))
"Me too. I can't think of any reason they would want the both of us."
