Old-Barbarossa Swift's Gulliver's Travels: satire that still stings...and poo jokes.
The Táin: Dark Ages carnage as folk fight over a bull...and folk wonder over the complex Hx of Ulster, it kind of starts here.
I suppose you should read some Joyce or Yates as well...

Silver The Hounds of the Morrigan by Pat O'Shea is an excellent book that takes Irish Myth and places it in a modern setting. For any one who has read Good Omens, The Hounds of the Morrigan does with Irish Myth that Good Omens does with Christianity. It is an interesting story filled with rich humur and the absurd.
