Q&A with Nina Perez discussion

I've been reading your blogs since Myspace and I've read your short stories, Amongst the Tulips being my favorite of yours. My question is "How did you come up with this story?". This is nothing like you've written before. I know your daughter asked why you don't you write something she could read. How did you come up with the concept and idea? Keep in mind I'm only 62% done.

When she asked me that question, I asked her, "What would you like to read?" She came back with the scene that ends chapter one. I spent a few nights with that scene on my mind right before I drifted off to sleep. I asked myself, "Why would such a thing happen? Why would people who don't know each other have those thoughts?" I took that and some other suggestions she'd given me and just came up with these two teens struggling with confusing powers and an awful tragedy.

It honestly flowed easier than anything I'd ever written.
