Brain Science Podcast discussion

I know Ginger recommended this book by Holly Tucker as more than a story of murder but of the schism between culture and science in the 1600s. I bought a copy and am enjoying it. The novel ideas of transfusing blood between animals and people as a cure for various ailments.
It makes me wonder how our current knowledge of things like the brain will appear to scientists and the public a hundred years from now.
I am 3/4 done with the book and plan on finishing this weekend.

Tim's response to Blook Work is similar to mine. The more I read about the history of medicine, the more I am struck by how relatively new the idea of science-based medicine really is. Doctors were still bleeding patients well into the 19th century. In fact, bleeding probably contributed to the death of George Washington in 1799.
