The interesting thing is I had *always* wanted to write a novel my entire life. But for some reason I could never get past page 10. I would come up with a great premise, but could not deliver on plot.
Then: disaster. I failed miserably at a company in 2001. I lost a lot of money. I was basically broken in half.
And then. For some reason. I could suddenly write. :)
So I did. I had time on my hands so I went for it. It took me about a year and a half, and I had many false starts and false finishes. But I got there. In late 2004 I finished the first draft of 'Pocket'.

No not really ... it was the emotional disaster that somehow re-arranged my brain so that I could write.
