The Iron Witch won in our 2nd poll for Group Read during April. Discuss it here. :) Enjoy! This is one I've been looking forward to reading!

message 2: by Pixie (new)

Pixie (PixieLynnWhitfield) I just started it today :)
Funny thing is, it was on my list, and already purchased, before I even joined the group recently. I had no idea the group was planning to read this for April until I began it. So quite the coincidence here. haha! :) Worked out very well, though. :P

I've been looking forward to reading this, too, and I look forward to discussing it later when finished. :)

Might I add- what a gorgeous cover that is, right? :)

Happy reading!

I like the cover too. How far are you into it? I haven't started it yet. I'll probably begin it next weekend, cause I have too much going on until then.

message 4: by Pixie (new)

Pixie (PixieLynnWhitfield) Oh, I'm only on page 31 at the moment, so not very far into at all. I haven't got a feel for it yet to say exactly what I think of it so far really- think I'll have to do more reading to determine more thoughts on that. haha. The next few days will be busy for me so reading time will be a bit slow and lagging, but with the way I read- even when I'm busy- it'll be finished by next weekend likely or shortly after, depending on how much I get into it.

I won't discuss it, though, until it's time to do that. :D

Helen I'm planning on reading this too, have it on the kindle waiting. Last week of the term this week coming so then I have a free week with no plans so lots of reading. Although I am supposed to plan the next half term, garden and clean my poor neglected house!

I like the cover too.

Mawgojzeta There are 16 people on the lending waiting list before me. I hope they read fast...

Do you have an ereader? I have this on ebook, if you want me to email it to you...

message 8: by Mawgojzeta (new)

Mawgojzeta Thank you, Joy! I do not have an ereader, though. :(

If you don't mind reading it on the computer, I can send it to you in PDF format... Let me know.

Mawgojzeta Joy, that is so kind of you. I would love to participate in the read. I have now read several books in PDF format and it is not as terrible (haha) as I thought it would be. Is the file small enough for email? If not, I have other methods available to me.

Helen I started it this morning and so far am enjoying it. There's definitely something strange going on in Maker's place. Also, I'm wondering what the dealk is with Xan.

message 12: by Pixie (new)

Pixie (PixieLynnWhitfield) I've finished it already.
Haha.

I'm starting it tomorrow. I am hoping to read at least a decent chunk of it by Tuesday...

Helen finished this morning, it's quite a quick read.

Really? Wow! I promised myself I would read a little tonight. I also have to write a paper tonight, so that is going to limit the amount of reading I can get done. Then I want to try to read more tomorrow, but I have a test and another paper due. lol I can't wait until April 22nd, b/c then I will be able to do lots of reading and writing!!!

message 16: by Ruth (new)

Ruth (ruthie1) Finished this last night...good story! Will wait until more are finished!

message 17: by Mawgojzeta (new)

Mawgojzeta I just finished the book (about 1 minute ago). It was ok.

(view spoiler)

message 18: by Helen (new)

Helen I couldn't agree more, particularly with point 2 and 6.

lol You guys can start talking about it, you don't have to wait for me. I will just refrain from looking at this thread until I am finished. I started it last night, but I barely remember what I read. I was that tired. So, please go ahead and start discussing. :)

message 20: by Pixie (new)

Pixie (PixieLynnWhitfield) It was alright. I posted a full review.
I'll probably read the sequel next year out of pure curiosity... but I won't be in a major rush to get it.

Helen This book has the potential to be a lot better, I didn't feel involved with anyone which makes it difficult to care what happens. I agree the diary seemed pointless, almost like someone had said 'you need a diary' to the author. It is as though there was a tick list for writing - love triangle, diary, dark broody type etc.

Overall, It was alright but could have been really good.

message 22: by Mawgojzeta (new)

Mawgojzeta It looks to me like we all (so far) are generally in agreement. We would make good book editors! :)

message 23: by Ruth (new)

Ruth (ruthie1) Yes...an easy read...but no real depth....pretty predictable...

message 24: by Helen (new)

Helen OOh I feel a job change coming on... me in a swanky corner office wearing an expensive suit (obviously in a smaller size, this is a fantasy!), advising new hopeful authors and booming "NEXT!" Oooooh then I could marry the dashing young assistant. These things just don't happen to primary teachers!

Ha! I know! Wouldn't it be wonderful?

message 26: by Beth (new)

Beth (bethlynhuff2008) I liked this book ok. It was an extremely easy read and I agree with Pixie, I will probably get the second book just out of curiosity. I was excited to read this book but I think my excitement was a little exaggerated!
