We're going to get started on May's book club nominations.

Our rules and nuances can be found here: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/2....

For May we decided on 2 themes. Our voted theme is Friendship. We also decided to do a second theme of Japanese in honor of the earthquake and tsunami. You may nominate a total of 2 books. You may nominate a YA book (fiction or non) that is a story about friendship AND a book set in or about Japan. If you have questions, please ask.

Please mark your votes as:

Friendship
Japan

This is so I know what list to put it under.

Please include the author of the book as well as it makes it easier and faster for me.

Check out the bookshelf to see what books we have already read.

Thanks! We'll get polls up in about a week.

Brittany | 35 comments Friendship: ?? I don't know. I'll have to think on this one.

Japan:Battle Royale by Koushun Takami. With everyone loving "The Hunger Games" series in here. This is more about current Japanese subculture than it is about their history or their strength.

Emily Friendship: Pretties by Scott Westerfeld my bad I didn't see that it was on the bookshelf.

I've heard good things about Battle Royale.

Brittany | 35 comments Definitely - it's been on my book shelf for YEARS. I've seen the movie but I would love to read/discuss the book together.

Finally decided on my friendship book : Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling. I know it's 6th in the series but I would hope anyone here who WANTED to read HP has already done so.

I second your nomination for Harry Potter! :) The series was a huge part of my teenage years, so I'd love to talk about it for sure!
