Although Whale Song is marketed as general adult fiction, it is perfect for teens. My youngest reader (that I know of) is 7. My oldest was 108.
Whale Song deals with racism, bullying, native culture and death, and has been used in schools across Canada. It is also recommended reading for a tutoring company with centres in Calgary and Edmonton, and for a women's shelter in Newnan, Georgia.
"Whale Song is deep and true, a compelling story of love and family and the mysteries of the human heart...a beautiful, haunting novel."
--New York Times bestselling novelist Luanne Rice, author of Beach Girls
