What day? What time? Where? How? Who has opinions?

Jackie "the Librarian" | 259 comments Mod
Someplace with good drinks, I think. :)
My place is way too small, or I'd volunteer to host.

Frances | 18 comments The spar? The mark? I am just throwing out ideas:)

We could do the back room of the Mark again- that was pretty nice the last time we did it. It is spendy, but a nice place to hang out.

message 5: by Frances (new)

Frances | 18 comments like that idea!

message 6: by Corrine (new)

Corrine saint (qtsaint) | 16 comments That sounds fun! I'm still willing to host though, shall we do a home or is going out better?

Corrine

Ooh, and if we get lucky and hit a nice day, we can hang out outside. I'm a fan. Plus, they take reservations.

So... when? So far, my weekends in May are pretty open.

message 8: by Sara (new)

Sara (asimilarkite) | 19 comments Mod
I'm in, as long as it's not the weekend of May 14th, 'cause I'll be out of town that weekend :)

message 9: by Raina (new)

Raina | 106 comments Mod
And I suspect the weekend of the 21st is out with OlyComiCon. So... 6th-8th? 27th-29th?

message 10: by Corrine (new)

Corrine saint (qtsaint) | 16 comments 28th or 29th best for me.....

message 11: by Agathafrye (new)

Agathafrye | 751 comments Mod
I would rather later so we have more time to read books. The Comics Festival is actually mostly in the day this time around- the stage show is before the expo. There might be something going on that night, but I haven't heard anything about it yet. The 28th/29th is Memorial day weekend...

Corrine, thanks for offering your home- we generally prefer to meet in restaurants more frequently than people's homes, but I'm sure an opportunity will arise eventually.

I suggest we move this into June. How about Friday June 3rd?

message 13: by Corrine (new)

Corrine saint (qtsaint) | 16 comments Fine with me, though I would prefer May. Whatever you all decide :)

Jackie "the Librarian" | 259 comments Mod
Works for me. Then we don't have to worry about Memorial Day activities.

message 15: by Sara (new)

Sara (asimilarkite) | 19 comments Mod
I'm in for June 3rd :) As is KC, I'm sure :)

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

June 3 doesn't work for me, I'll be in Minnesota visiting family.

Raina | 106 comments Mod
I don't have any plans for Memorial Day, but I'm fine with moving into June, though my schedule is a bit tenative with the remodel being planned...

Okay, finally have time to revisit this. Question: who is actually going out of town over Memorial day weekend? If nobody is, I'm thinking that Friday May 27th might work. The reason for this abrupt change is that our friend and longtime Oly Reads member Kate might be taking a job in THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES (!!!), so this might be her last book club. She can't make it on the weekend of the 3rd/4th. What say you people?

message 19: by Raina (new)

Raina | 106 comments Mod
Whoa!!! I think I'm excited for Kate, as much as my mind is blown. The 27th is just fine with me - I have no plans other than having an awesome time. But that's just life in general. :)

message 20: by Sara (new)

Sara (asimilarkite) | 19 comments Mod
Wow neat! I can definitely be there on May 27th :)

message 21: by Frances (new)

Frances | 18 comments May 27th is great...congrats Kate!

message 22: by Corrine (new)

Corrine saint (qtsaint) | 16 comments Can't do 27th but can do 28th or 29th...

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, Kelsey, you've blown my secret (it's really not). I kind of live in fear that I'll say I'm going and then I'll find out it's only a joke. I haven't yet signed the contract but believe that I will. This is an exciting adventure for me.

Anyway, my family in Minnesota is gathering on the weekend of June3-5 and it will be my last visit with them (including my 86 year old mother) for a while.

Kelsey, thank you for being flexible. By the way, my sister, an English lit teacher and poet, will be living in my house. I hope she'll join the group.

As many of you know, I really like going to this bookgroup and this will be the last one for me unless I happen to be home (or something happens --self doubt here) when it meets.

Sorry to blow your secret, Kate! It's just so dang exciting, whether you end up going or not. Corrine, I've got plans on the 28th and 29th, so we'll have to see you next time. Majority rules!

I'll call the Mark in the next day or two and put up an official-like invite.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

Ohhhhh! The Mark. Excellent!

Thanks, Kelsey, no problem. Just don't want to feel too foolish if I end up in Utah instead of the UAE.

message 26: by Corrine (new)

Corrine saint (qtsaint) | 16 comments Have fun all, please let me know if the date changes, would really like to come!

message 27: by Agathafrye (new)

Agathafrye | 751 comments Mod
I'm sorry, Corrine! Unfortunately, you're the only one that can't make it on that date. It's hard to find dates that work for everyone, but I do what I can.

All of the June books have been added from our EPIC FOUR HOUR, fourteen person book club at the Mark. Also, welcome Jess and belated welcomes to Steve and KC! Nice to have you all with us. Kate, WE'LL MISS YOU! Maybe you can send me books you've been reading and we'll all take turns pretending to be you during book group until you come back. So, do we want to meet again in July? Right now I'm free every weekend except for the 8th and 9th. We could do a daytime picnic too if we were feeling optimistic about the weather. Or, we haven't gone to Swing in a long time...

message 29: by Agathafrye (new)

Agathafrye | 751 comments Mod
Sorry, I guess it was our May/almost June meeting. You knew what I meant.

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

I plan to explore middle eastern literature and will send updates.

message 31: by Corrine (new)

Corrine saint (qtsaint) | 16 comments How about July 1st so we can gear up for the holiday? Swing sounds fun! If not the last weekend in July is good for me. Im still willing to host, we could BBQ.....

message 32: by Raina (new)

Raina | 106 comments Mod
I can't do July 1.
I could do 15/16 or 22/23 or 29/30, though.

message 33: by Sara (new)

Sara (asimilarkite) | 19 comments Mod
Dates I could do:

July 1st, 8th, 9th, 15th, 23rd, 29th, 30th. July 16th and 22nd are out for me 'cause I have evening library programs :) I could probably also do late June, as long as it wasn't the 25th (Harry & the Potters!)

I made a doodle poll, including some Sunday afternoon dates if we wanted to try something different. Please mark all your available dates, and if you have preferred dates or places to meet you can add those to the comments.

Yeah, I was noticing that place. Has anyone checked it out yet?

message 36: by Raina (new)

Raina | 106 comments Mod
I like the look of the menu and the private room sounds perfect! But no, haven't checked it out myself.
