noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooosuuunnn
Stake would be much, much worse. I don't know if it would be more painful, but someone has to stake you through the heart, so if you get staked, you lose both your dignity, and your undead life. In other words, you lose.
1)i always thought of sun as bing burnt on the spot into a little pile of ash in a matter of seconds...2)sun doesn't work if ur twilight!!!
Since I am old school and don't believe sunlight kills vamps. Being staked, having your head cut of and your mouth stuffed with garlic and then having your body burned would be pretty rough,LOL. Cary

I, too, do not believe that the sun kills vamps (I have a tendency of correcting people on that, which some see as a "know it all" thing of me to do).
I agree with you, Cary. Although, I think being looked away and unable to feed would be worse then dying.

I don't believe the sun kills vamps, but if it did, I think it would be worse than a stake, basically roasting alive, that's gotta hurt!

In all the oldest vampire litrature from The Phantom World by Augustine Calmet. Vampires come out by night and day. However they are destoyed by being cut up and burned. In John Polidoris the Vampypre,Lord Ruthven walks in the day, and attacks people at night. When killed his body is resurected by moonlight. What is moonlight but reflected Sunlight. Carmilla regularly came out each day at noon. Dracula could do so as well, only during the day Dracula did not have his magic powers so he did not go into the day unless the situation was desperate. The first image of a Vampire burning in the Sun comes from Nosferatu a silent film. The Vampire going poof on film with with the rise of the sun,and the special effects of gunpowder, was something audiences loved. It's only logical that with the advance in special effects the more spectacular the flame out. Films created Vampires that burn when exposed to sunlight. The truth is that Vampires are fictional so what ever vampire mythos you believe in is the real one.
Honesty the sun would be the worst. Does anybody realise that the stake wouldn't work on a twilight vamp either? You have to tear apart the vampire and burn it.
Dracula was killed with a Bowie Knife and Ghurka knife in the book. Stabed in the heart, and his throat slit. Then he was beheaded and burned along with his three wives. The flying thing two,and shape shifting. Dracula sould levitate, and fly when he shifted into a bat. He could shift into a wolf as well. In modern some modern vampire stories they have em taking of like superman,LOL. As in the next to last episode of TrueBlood. Just a bit much I think. But I dig it anyway.
Dont you know that sunlight will not kill a vampire. Have you not read Carmilla, Dracuala, and The Vampyre by John Polodori. Sunlight does nothing to us. Hollywood movies are the ones that have vampires burning in the sun. Because it looks so pretty. How sad people have forgotten the original pecularities that govern vampire existance. As for stakes they have to be directly through the heart. A hard target for a moving vampire, and so stupid since a knife would wound us all the same but neither would kill. If the head is not removed and the body burnt. Then we may always come back. Yes such a shame. Some stupid old lady gets a pen and starts rewriting facts that have been known for centuries. The next time I take my take my evening stroll I will have a great laugh about it.
In the Magia Posthuma(Magic Afterlife)it says that in the 1600's a shepard in Blau Romania had been seen by night, and day in his village after his death two weeks previous. When his grave was dug up he showed signs of vampirism. When they began to stake him into his grave. He woke up laughing, and said "Thanks for a stake to beat of the dogs with". The next night he killed more people than before. This is a documented and true account by a lawyer working for the Austrian government.
I would have to say the sun would be a very painful death for vampires. The hot burning sensation all over your body at once souncds like agony. =/~
TV and film vampires seem to burn up pretty fast. Vampires being part demon, and part ghost. Who knows how much pain they feel. Since Gothic and Victorian vampires dont burn in the sun it's not an issue. The true old Vampire mythos has been changed to suit the needs of Hollywood special effects. I will always like the old school stories far better than the new wave of vampire stories starting around the time of Anne Rice's books & the Paramormal Romance genere of literature. For some odd reason I really like Sookie Stackhouse. I guess because they are vampire, mystery, and have very adult sex in them. :)
i say the sun would be worse as a vampire. a steak would kill slowly. the sun would be a slow, yet painful death.
We need a question #5. Like what vampire power do you dig on the most. Speed, strength, shape shifting, teleportation, the majic to control the weather, super hot vampire sex, immortality, freedom from disease.
I would say sun, but it sort of depends on the mythology you're following. Like Twilight vamps don't die in the sun. But in mythologies where vamps do die in the sun, they die a pretty slow, painful death. One way to die that would really be a bummer is decapitation. Ouch!
Some senarios have vampires locked away in their tomb and sealed in by the holy wafer, and strands of magical herbs. They literaly starve to a weakend mummy of a vamp. Yet they do not die. Woah! What a punishment. However when rescued the vampire can be carefully nurished back to health. Then after a few big drainings of blood be fit as a fiddle. Now that would be a horrible torture. To be going mad with the hunger for centuries. Until you were finally realeased when the tomb fell apart or the holly waffer rotted,or when someone found you and rescued you. That would be worse than straight up dying. Everyone has been metioning Twilight when they refer to vampires that are active during the day. Have they not read earlier vampire works. Or any of the books written before the movie Nosferatu was made? If you have not read Dracula or Carmilla you are really missing the best two vampire stories bar none. Both Carmilla & Dracula so smoke all the other modern books. They are so much deeper and thoughtful. Dracula is so much more powerful than any vampire ever written about before. He personaly knows Lucifer and has studied the black arts under his Satanic Majesty. He has the strength of 20 men and in life was the most powerful knight, warlord, and Necromancer. Oh yeah and he had three beautiful wifes. Both Christian & Muslim. He also has a gypsy army at his command, and all the wolves, and other creatures of the night. One bad vampire. Pure evil and the hero of the Romanian Christians he saved from the invading Turkish armies. Dracula suduces women, and totally controls them. His wifes adore him, and playfully make jest with him. Which Dracula handless with good humor, and rewards with plenty of victims, and blood origies, because he knows they are slaves to his love. Dracula is my hero. Carmilla however is my girl, and only true love. It seems kinda geeky to be in love with a literary figure. But Carmilla is my girl. I dream about her, and long for her to come for me. I am not obsessed in this. But I do love imagining it. Does anyone else long to have Eric,Bill,Stefan,Pam,Sophie Ann or Lucy come for them, and take them away into the night? Yeah I know off topic. Stake & beheading. Humiliating, and the end of a wonderful existance.
