Too many wizards and vampires discussion

Do you think there are too many books being written about magical characters and vampires? It seems like book stores are full of them.

Haha, I lvoe the MBS, which is about smart 12 year olds....They kind of have powers but they arent supernatural so....You should try them...The first book is way better than the second....

Hi Hi!Clari!I love wizards and magic(one shouldn't expect anything less from a HP fan) but to be honest there's too much of them out there these days!I absolutely love Harry Potter!I detest vampires really!It was only the other day I got into a fight with some one in a poll why vamps are so flat and boring and very annoying.

I live close to Orlando and have been to Universal twice to see The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. They did a really good job with it.

I think that it's just the time period. Kids probably, like 15-20 years ago, got tired of reading abou the same realistic fiction or mysteries and wanted something new.

Now the super creature fad has moved in. A lot of kids, book geeks and such probably don't want to read about our world anymore because they live it and know about, they want something new and fun and fake to get out of their overstressed lives.

Also, it's more fun to read about stuff that doesn't happen in everyday life.

And truthfully, Twilight isn't that bad. It is a bit dramaistic too much, but if you take out some of the bad sides ... it''s pretty well written. And most kids these days are obsessed with lovey-gooey stuff. Mainly girls. There aren't many boys who read and like twilight.

I was in a major bookstore on Friday, and they have a huge teen paranormal romance section. I am happy to see any writer get published and succeed, but it just seems that some took advantage of Stephanie Myers' success and wrote books that were not very original.

Yeah, I think this is because some authors do love reading and writing but sometimes get so fed up of trying to think up something orginal they want to make some money and steal others ideas.

I still love vampire books if they are original. Recently I read a book called Vampires Rule about a boy who goes from being a vampire to a mortal again. It was great, really unique. I loved it that his younger brother has become his older brother. That led to a few problems. lol

I should admit that I have not read the original Dracula by Bram Stoker.
I downloaded it yesterday and started reading it. How many of you have read it? I think I should go back to the original and use it to compare to the modern versions.
