I greatly enjoy Amanda Hocking's book series, 'My blood approves.' She really opened up the door for self-published indie authors I commence her for that. Although lately after firstly purchasing 'Through Time Indefinite' and then 'Equilibrium Slayer's Heart' I have newly coined Catharina Shields as my favorite.

Frankie Saxx (frankiesaxx) I'm loving Dan Holloway. His work falls more on the literary end of the spectrum, though he's got a thriller set in Oxford that I haven't read yet.

Catharina Shields (catshields) | 1 comments First, thank you so much for inviting me to be a part of your discussion board.

And second...wow! Thanks so much, Christina. I feel honored just being mentioned in the same category as Amanda Hocking!

I'm currently working on Equilibrium II: Rebirth, and I hope to have it e-published in the first two weeks of May 2011.

This thread's question is Who is your favorite Indie Author and why?

My answer is, Amanda Hocking, too. She's the Queen of Indie Authorship and yet she remains so kind and humble. A wonderful young woman who doesn't let success go to her head, and who is truly an inspiration and a godsend for putting indie authorship on the map for the rest of us.

For that alone, she gets my full respect. :-)

Charlie (bitsyblingbooks) | 3 comments I read and review primarily independent author works. I don't necessarily have a favorite author, but I've loved many books from sub-genres that typically get overlooked or are not as 'marketable' to the mainstream. I tend to favor character driven stories.

Asylum Lake by R.A. Evans
Caraliza by Joel Blaine Kirkpatrick
Cursed by Jeremy C. Shipp
Grundish and Askew by Lance Carbuncle
Haunting Miss Trentwood by Belinda Kroll
One Last Thing to Do Before I Die by Steven Drew Goldberg
Purple Jesus: A Novel by Ron Cooper
The Red Church by Scott Nicholson

Of course, I'm a big fan of my own indie books :)

Frankie Saxx (frankiesaxx) Charlie, nice recommendations.

Two of my current reads (posted on Goodreads) are indie also.

Normal Service Will Resume Shortly by Tyson Bley (think Kafka on acid, is how my boyfriend describes it.) I've been reading Tyson's blog for a while, and just love him to death.

Concrete Underground by Moxie Mezcal -- I'm just starting this one, but really enjoying it.

Moriah Hi! I'm Moriah Jovan, author of three novels that have been variously described as literary romance, soap operas, potboilers, and schlock. Also, they are over the top. I don't call myself an indie author. I am a DIYer.

My favorite DIYers thus far (and my personal DIY heroes) are:

Phil Persinger, whom I discovered quite by accident (a happy one, per Bob Ross) with Do the Math and Semele ; and

RJ Keller, with Waiting for Spring .
