that comment made me laugh o much when i first read it
You're both quite welcome! :) Nothing I enjoy more than sharing my enjoyment of this fantastic series with like-minded individuals...
Yes, adding to the crew is always good. It give us people to talk to while we wait for 7 to come out. This is me patiently waiting.Brandy Hunt
Yup, chatting with new crew.. trying to beat Minh's scores in the training sims.. practicing spoon-fu... and of course there's ALWAYS a good game of "Vacsuit-headshot-stasis" :D
Sorry BarbarianSteve... Griffin gets so lost sometimes.... just caught up in all the sims and showing off the ship.... If you'll follow me we have to go to medical first.... you have to be scanned first... lotta weird stuff out there. You know, life in a spaceport and all. Then we will stop by security and get your C&C... the vacsuit is already loaded on it... see program 3 ... it's on the base menu. When you're done with that you are free to roam the ship.Enjoy it.... this place is awesome!!
I think I got lost myself there for a bit, wandered down some corridor that didn't have any lights on and tripped over a cleaning bot. Blasted thing made me faceplant like a swandive. And did I hear someone mention sims? I could load my old King of the Hill sim up. Just picture it, a swarm of lightly-armoured Vindyne or RG troops, and you, in an encounter suit.
I know, *sheepish grin*. I think I need psych.
Well.... if you need psych then we must all be in the loony bin.... last piece of advice.... comes from Chief Grady.... if you are lost just ask the ship... it's really cool stuff cuz it'll show you how to get where you wanna go.... oh and try not to drink too much with Griffin..... he likes Noganto Ale..... seem to recall some clouds .... then sick bay..... next time I'll have whiskey with Chief Frost!
Hey Barbarian, does that king of the hill support multiplayer? Cuz i'm thinkin five on five hundred or five k might be fun in those suits man.... see yah in the pilots den in half an hour man.... this is gonna rock!!!!!!!
A ship that shows you where you're going? Starting to wish I'd been born on Terra and served in the Sol System Fleet. Imagine learning the ropes from the guys who built this beast!Multiplayer? Five on fiveK sounds like an absolute hoot. My suggestion, eight large glasses of Noganto, then log into the sims, then see how many you can take down in the encounter suit using melee only before you fall flat on your face.
My personal best is 52, then I slipped on someone's squishy bits.
Ok Bsteve, ya really got me there...... gonna have to build a tolerance to that stuff... went through 31 and think I left some squishy bits myself all over the floor..... you definitely got some barbarian style in ya man!!Next time it's your turn to buy!
No problem, drinks're on me next time I'm off duty! 31 is an admirable score, well worthy of a celebratory snifter of whatever the strongest liquid fighter fuel they serve at the bar is.Also, do they make nanoblades in axe form? I have a reputation to uphold here!
Bsteve, man I don't know how to tell you this, brace yourself, Chief Vega just blew our scores outta the sky man. From what I saw she downed about 10 drinks of some blue liquor and then brilliantly ripped through your sim. She stopped at 137 and muttered something, then she renamed the sim to Queen of the Hill. That's when she started laughing, right up til she started crying, and Ashley helped her outta the bar. I think her and Chief Frost had another fight but man was she something to watch..... looked like some kind of ballet with martial arts...... remind me not to get on her bad side!!! So I talked to the bartender and he said we have to beat her score to change the name back. It sounds like she put a command override on it. Good news though, Finn says we can do the axe just don't expect to get one for real cuz the power required would make it a one time use kinda thing.
Alright guys, Finn let me look into the nanoaxe, and I think I've found a practical solution. Instead of having a blade where the nanbots are in a magnetic field and programmed to push through whatever they hit. We'll have to use an actual haft and program a core of nanobots to maintain the shape along with the magnetic field. The real problem this leads to is that the axe can get stuck in whatever you're striking, if it doesn't go through. Being stuck won't last long since the edge nanobots will act the same as a nanoblade. The nanobots should last as long, if not longer than a nanoblade because the haft is a much larger reservoir than the nanoblade hilt. If we end up building them, you two will have come to main engineering to try them out.
a hu......a hundred and thirty-seven?! That's one hell of a gauntlet she's thrown down there. I heard she was as tough as old boots but that's just amazing. Remind me to buy her a congratulatory drink next time she's offduty, "Queen of the Hill", haha, that's classic. She more than earned that title.Using the haft as a reservoir for the axe sounds like a great idea, but if there's one thing I learned with tinkering trying to make a more efficient axe using mono-edged chainsaw blades is that when you slam it into the target, the best thing to do is use both hands to wrench or rip it diagonally out of the target object/enemy, inflicting additional damage and freeing the blade. The great thing about a nanite blade is that as it dissolves the matter around the impact site, it loosens it up for you to wrench out, and by wrenching it out you're going to inflict even more damage.
Obviously, intimidation and fear are part of the weapon's effectiveness, demoralise the enemy to make them more ineffective. Couple that with a decen vacsuit and armour plating, and maybe some suit-based muscle augmentation and you have yourself a shock trooper!
Let me know the moment you have an inkling of a working prototype and I'll show you how it's done! It's all in the shoulder and wrist, it's not like swinging a regular nanoblade.
BSteve,Man have I been through the wringer this week. Something just didn't sit right with me about Chief Vega's score. So I did a little detective work on that front. Well, I found out that she didn't exactly follow your suggested rules (she doesn't care for Noganto Ale). So I think your pride should be intact. Mine was taking a real beating and now your sim is really busy. Seems that a lot of the male crew took that as a challenge. So far only three crewmembers have come close to your scores (with Noganto). They are Alaka, Agameg (we had to talk him into it), and Chief Frost. With scores of 43, 39, and 33. Although Chief Frost was at 31 when he fell over backwards and took out two on his way down. We had to carry him to medical cuz he was really messed up. Well, that led to alot of questions, then somebody noticed that I had been snooping about Chief Vega, and I spent the better part of two hours in her office. Apparently, she didn't remember all of the sim, at least not after about 60. She was laughing at the replay. Then she informed me that I needed more time in the suits because that was why my scores weren't better. So now I have loader suit training on the gunnery deck.... uhh... you better check your C&C... Sorry dude, looks like we both do.
An axe is an interesting proposition, I suggest mounting a large one on an encounter suit and the nanobots are matirialized right from main power, add a heat energy collector on the outside (for body heat). Now whos king of the hill suckers! Anyway, I'll meet you all in the oota galoona after shifts over for the noganto, first rounds on Steve.

Yeah, I'm still chuckling over your welcome to Bill. With "Expendable Few" about to become available, I'm wishing I could hire a housekeeper & cook for the family for about 24-36 hours. Some addictions are easier to manage than others. At least we can tell/josh each other about this one.

Thank you so much for the free demo and resonable pricing on e-books that makes purchasing decisions easy but I suppose thats another topic all together.
