Are alpha males particularly brooding, serious types? I have my own idea of what they are, but what is your definition?

To me Alphas are the "take-charge" type. Not necessarily brooding or serious. Leaders of those around him.

For me the alpha is a take-charge kind of guy who doesn't take any crap from anyone (except from the heroine at some point because he's dying for her--lol!) and who's a bit on the gruff or stand-offish side.

My alphas are the leader-of-the-pack, not chatty, have a dry wit, often sarcastic, hard-edged and street-smart. He's gotta know how to put down women who make a play for him in front of the one he's fallen for.

Alpha's are definitely in charge. The're commited to a cause, loyal to a fault, hard as nails on the outside. But, for the right woman, they not only bend, they go all the way...hook, line, and sinker. They're a one-woman man, and heaven help the person who get between him and his woman.

My favorite alpha's are those I write myself, of course. How can they not be? If you've lived with this character for months on end, you're mated, one way or another. lol It's really hard to give them up to your heroine, no matter how much you like her.

Alpha's are the ultimate personification of Romance.

Maybe an alpha can be confused, tired and poor at keeping track of the banking, but when push comes to shove with no place to hide, he stands tall, or medium, and balls up his fist to set the record straight. His clothes may not match and his hair messed, but once he's set, he will not fail.

So, I'm new, and this is the first message I'm responding to a message, so I don't know if I'm doing it right... But I'm absolutely in love with your Alphas Lynda, and I haven't even met them!
My alphas run almost exactly the same line. There's one thing I would add. They've got to have a sense of honor. I'm a sucker for the honorable ones...

I think alphas are everything that everyone has said, and also possessive/protective of their heroine. They don't like another guy trying for her attention or anything else she has and will gladly let that other male know how he sees the situation and to back off or he will make him back off. I love those protective ones, even when the heroine chastises him for going all protective he does it anyways. I love it!
