Picking up on a suggestion in another thread, here's a place for us to talk about great books on travel and exploration. This is one of my favorite topics, so I hope it's a hopping discussion.

Travel literature--especially early stuff (medieval, 16th, 17th)--just fascinates me. I love all of the wacky stories travels come back with. Maybe it could be fun to read The Travels of Sir John Mandeville together??

I have a friend who is a specialist of medieval travel literature. I'll betcha we could bring her in to lead a discussion...

a few of my favorite early travel accounts to add to the list: The Travels of Marco Polo, Thomas Coryate's account of Moghul India and The Travels of Ibn Battutah

Yvonne: I know it as Greetings from the Court of the Great Moghul. I don't see it on the Goodreads list.

Thanks Pamela!
I added the closest title I could find to our bookshelf.

You rock, Yvonne! Thanks for keeping us all organized. Have you seen all of the folks who've said how many TBR's they've discovered in the group shelves? :)

Ahhhhh, thanks Holly!
I think I've really found my niche -- I'm having a great time organizing the bookshelves.
The members in this group have terrific taste in literature and my TBR list has grown quite a bit too! :)

Amanda Woodward | 9 comments I really enjoyed Letters from Finland. It might have helped that I read it while I was actually in Finland, but I still think it would be a good historical, travel read.
