What is your opinion on the whole December 21st, 2012 debate? Keep in mind that the Mayans did not specifically say the world would end at this time, though they did say great changes would befall the earth.

Considering that half of it was all about the calender ending i would like to say that it just ended because the Mayans figured that people of the future would figure out how to make a calender by then. my dad said that the idiot stuck in a cave writing numbers useless to them on the wall decided he had better things to do.in other words, a load of chiz
yeah i don't either. just because the calender ended, doesn't mean the the world is going to end.

I think something huge will happen, No one knows the future, but god could drop hints!
THE end of the world doesnt neccesay mean it will end. Maybe a whole new generation will start over like technology will be superb and their will be no such thing as cancer or ilness anymore. it doesnt mean the end of the world it could be the end of this generation and the rise of a new one.
no way 2012 is happening. the myans thought the internet would crash in 2000. no. the mayans said the world would end in 1984 (i think thats the year), no. im not scared. that movie they made was complete crap. its not gonna happen. i know it.

I heard one person say:THe aztecs divide the world into many time periods, and at the end of each period the world ends and a new world begins. The aztecs have been known to be very good at calculating time (seasons, harvest time, etc) so many people have taken it seriously. Also, the media usually blows it up.

Astrologer John Jenkins has determined that on this date, there will be "an extremely close conjunction of the northern hemisphere winter solstice sun with the crossing point of the Galactic equator and the ecliptic", an event that will not be repeated for thousands of years.
Several authors have published works which claim that a major, world-changing event will take place in 2012:
The 1997 book The Bible Code by Michael Drosnin claims that, according to certain algorithms of the Bible code, an asteroid or comet will collide with the Earth.
The 2006 book 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl by Daniel Pinchbeck discusses theories of a possible global awakening to psychic connection by the year 2012, creating a noosphere.
Patrick Geryl predicts a magnetic pole reversal. This has happened many times in the past. Geryl also predicts that the Earth will start rotating in the opposite direction although a geomagnetic reversal does not require the Earth to change its rotation direction. The Earth functions as a gigantic gyroscope. The energy required to reverse its direction of rotation would be immense. He does not explain from where the required energy will come.
Riley Martin claims that Biaviian aliens will allow passage aboard their 'Great Mother Ship' when the Earth is 'transformed' in 2012.
Terence McKenna's numerological novelty theory suggests a point of singularity in which humankind will go through a great shift in consciousness
Personally, I'm not sure. I don't really think the world will end, but I think it's possible that something significant could happen.

Um, I think 2012 is just some BS hype about the end of the world. That doesn't necessarily mean that it isn't the truth..(yea, the hype even got me thinking), but it could mean else-wise. (I usually tease my family about 2012 - end of life..xD)

I told my mom it would really suck if the world DID end in 2012..I'd have spent the majority of my life in school and STILL wouldn't be a highschool graduate (I'd be about 1/4 of the way through my senior year) shfjkhjdhfj....

I was in the bookstore (Borders) the other day and went to the psychology section. You wouldn't believe how many different books there are on 2012 there. :O
Some people claim 2012 will be our great spiritual awakening. If that's true, then I welcome it.
