New eReader Coming!!
I have a feeling its going to be either a kids ereader or a larger ereader more like a tablet. But I'm hoping its a kids ereader. None of the major competitors have anything sturdy and low priced for kids.
A lot of people think it will be a Nook 2. Second generation eInk reader. I've never been real patient. The speculation will kill me. LOL!!
omg.. i wanna know now!!! i have the Nook, and was thinking about upgrading to the nookcolor...so now i will wait and see. I have been torn because i really like the eInk reader because i can read inside and out, but i want to be able to do all the cool stuff a nook color can do (especially if you root it..)
It would be cool if it is a Nook 2, I had decided that I wanted the NookColor, but I think I am going to get the Ipad. I have an Iphone that I love, and think I should continue on and get an Ipad. Now, if they come out with the Nook 2.... well.... I would be interested in getting it..... :)
I think it will be an improved e-ink reader that drops the touchscreen (which adds wait and expense). A lighter, lower priced eReader will help B&N compete with the Kindle.
I think color e-ink the technology was invented late last year in Japan. I don't know if anyone else has purchased the technology yet.
Latest from Consumer Reports on the new eReader. It's really nothing new.http://news.consumerreports.org/elect...
I think (I know this probably isn't possible) that they should get touch-screen e-ink. Cuz then everyone would want it!

I'm excited too. Can't wait until Tuesday. I hope they send out an email so I will get the news on my phone :)
I work at B and N too. Have no inkling! Tuesdays are the usual day for new releases and I work at Nook desk on Tuesdays, hmmmmm.
All I know is that I have a Nook Color and I am going to be getting a new eInk Nook soon. I can feel it!!
I'm betting it replaces the original nook, or that they will drop the original nook to $99.... pre-emptive to what Kindle may be planning for Christmas. I've also seen some links that indicate Mirasol technology as a possible option.
I highly doubt B&N will drop the touch screen.
We shall see.
It's got to be a full eInk touchscreen now to match what Kobo announced today. I hope that it will be ready the first day out and not be a coming attraction. They can't torture me like that!!
I can almost guarantee that whatever it is, this is only an announcement of what's to come. not an announcement of a product that will be selling tomorrow.
I like the looks of the new touchscreen. Looks like a big improvement over the current Nook (which I will still keep). I'm buying on June 10th.
I too will be purchasing this. It hit on almost all of the things that I was hoping for, with a few exceptions. I wish the price was smaller and I wish that there was a browser. But, I still will be pre-ordering it. I have my Nook Color and now I will get this as well.Overall, I think it was worth the wait.

Well I can live with that, will be on the top of my Christmas list this year if it does ;)

It looks like everything I was looking for! Though I will probably wait for a cheaper one, since I'm pretty happy with my current Nook.

It looks cute, but I'm happy with my nookColor. I couldn't ask for anything else except maybe 3G or even 4G. :D
i have the (non color) Nook. I am pretty happy with it so I don't see myself getting this. I like the 3g.
I'm also really happy with my NOOKcolor, so I probably wont be purchasing this to replace it anytime soon. However, if this device had been out when I purchased my NC, I'm sure I would have a hard time deciding which I want (because of the touch screen and extended battery life)
I'll have both devices. This new eInk will be perfect for when I leave the house. And I will still have my NC for when I'm home. I would hate having to put a light on it (new nook). The backlit screen (NC)is perfect for reading at night.
Adventures in discovering the new Nook.First break the screen on your old Nook & don't buy the replacement plan.
At 7:30am EST 5/24 checked B&N site nothing.
At 2:30pm EST 5/24 checked B&N site and saw the new Nook
Could not access the videos and the Nook looked like a square on my screen.
At 7:30pm EST 5/24 check B&N site again and saw the 6" Nook accessed all of the videos and there was much more content.
I will buy the new Nook and not the older NookIt fixes some of my biggest pet peeves with the older Nook. Looking up words with the touch screen should be much easier. Bookmarking and adding notes also easier. I like being able to turn pages on the side and by touching the screen. The price is good too.
First time eReader here...I got really fed up with trying to read an eBook on my PC.
So yesterday I took advantage of the sales at BAM and purchased a new Nook 2nd edition. Having never tried the older versions or other brands, I went strictly on usefulness and value. 35% off nook accessories (I bought a cover) and a coupon for 30% off at BAM good for a month (I buy an awful lot of books so I will use this).
I like shopping online for my eBooks and downloading them to my PC. I can then use the USB cord and transfer my eBooks to my Nook without ever going wireless. This works with .pdf files I got from other places (smashwords, Netgalley, freebies from author websites). I successfully performed this transfer today, after less than 24 hours as an eReader. I feel such a sense of accomplishment....
The Nook itself is small and lightweight. They stripped it down to make the battery life longer. If you turn off the WiFi, the battery should last two months before recharging. This setup works for me, since I do not feel the need for constant web access. I will eventually purchase an iPad or something like that if my feelings change.
So...after less than 24 hours I am happy so far.
I am, however, having trouble with power button. It doesn't readily turn on the unit, and currently is not turning the unit on at all.
A call to tech support solved the problem. The power button needs to be pressed for 10 seconds. The manual says 2 seconds. Silly me...trying to follow the instructions...
Nook Color or Nook simple Touch, $249 or $139? Really want the Nook Color, but with the price of eBooks it makes it hard to make the jump from a physical book to a e-reader. Ex. Hit List $15.02 for the hardcover and $14.99 for the ebook, and my membership is useless on e-products
The prices are high for books from the Big 6 publishing houses because of their agency prices for ebooks. There are very good deals on books that are not published by those house, though. I hardly pay more than 5.99 for a book and most of the time it is down in the 2.99 range. You can get some great books from some great authors at those prices.
