You are right about it seeming like the introduction. Many YA novels are done in trilogies. When you read the second book it will fit into place- promise
I guess that is what makes some trilogies better than others. Are they doing 3 books because there is enough substance there or are they trying to make more money.
Yeah I liked it as well. Yes it does seem like an introductory book. But I think it was a nice story and gave some interesting background. I liked how he used the same trigger for the Great War as in real life. Can't wait to read the 2nd book.



I gave it 3 starts, would have given 3.5 if goodreads allowed. For my first taste of the Steampunk genre I enjoyed it. I thought the characters were appealing, and I enjoyed the descriptions of the Darwinist's beasties and the Clanker’s machines
I felt that it came accross as one big long introduction though. The story seemed as it was building up and just as it got interesting it ended and not in that good way, it just seems to stop.
I will read the next book in the series and I hope that with that entire introduction out of the way, the adventure will really start.
