GSGS | 50 comments Ooh, this could be my forte XD

I love learning about the Eureka Stockade too, the goldrush time was interesting.

We're learning about the Stolen Generation right now, which means... RABBIT PROOF FENCE!
I love that movie, as sad as it is at times.

Ooh, NAPLAN. We don't spend too much on toys and games :D

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

LOL Yeah I was drawing on my spare piece of paper... There was a mistake in one of the questions, and another one too, depending on who you ask (some people think it's Mrs. and others think it's Mrs )

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

It is sad and I feel sorry for them but it doesn't mean that they should get paid to go to school... :(

That is my favourite historic novel EVER!
I also suggest A Rose for the ANZAC Boys, by the same author [Jackie French].

message 30: by Becky (new)

Becky (MissFooFoo) I am going to read that book.... loads of people have recommeneded that to me.

message 31: by GSGS (new)

GSGS | 50 comments I had to read it for school; we had to summarise each chapter which was annoying but it was still a good book despite all the boring school tasks associated with it ;)

message 32: by Becky (new)

Becky (MissFooFoo) Yeah.... i just like to read a book in my own time :)

Miss Silvertongue (misssilvertongue) | 16 comments GSGS {Jizzy} wrote: "I had to read it for school; we had to summarise each chapter which was annoying but it was still a good book despite all the boring school tasks associated with it ;)"

I think most people ended up reading it twice. First to enjoy it and the second to get the stupid task done.

As proud as I am of Australia, I just don't think we have enough history to talk about. We're a young country, just saying.

message 34: by Seraph (new)

Seraph Well, personally, I just think we don't have as much history because we haven't had as many wars, as well as being a young country...

Miss Silvertongue (misssilvertongue) | 16 comments Yeah that too. I kind of meant it like... I'm more interested in other countries' history. Like, there's a National History Challenge that's going on and we have to link our topic in some way back to Australian history and for me, it was really difficult to think of an interesting thing to write about that could be related to Australian history (apart from the obvious: wars, Olympics, Settlement vs Invasion etc).

message 36: by GSGS (new)

GSGS | 50 comments I would've either written about the Stockade or women's rights... but I really couldn't be bothered doing the challenge.

Miss Silvertongue (misssilvertongue) | 16 comments The state library is what made me do it. And that's about it. :)

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

URGH! That reminded me. I have homework.

message 39: by Becky (new)

Becky (MissFooFoo) Same!!

That almost did sway me, I admit.
