To kick off this discussion I will just say that although I really liked this book, the ending really annoyed me. Did anyone else feel like Marianne didn't actually love Brandon and was just settling for him? Very unfair since Brandon was awesome.
I think Marianne loved Brandon in a more realistic, calmer way. Her 'problem' was that she was so passionate about her feelings (sensibilities) that she and Willoughby wallowed in mutual admiration without considering the expectations of everyday life. (I can tell you from experience that this calmer love is longer lasting.) It's like the difference between being in love, when love itself as well as one's lover is the fascinating object, and loving someone.
