Leah (leahsu) This book was loaned to me by a friend. We stand strong in our mutual hatred of it.

What was wrong with it? A) Plot. B) Characters. You end up rooting for the vine. And I'm pretty sure the vine was written to be enemy number one.

Sandi (sandikal) I don't think I ever heard of this book. Who wrote it? It sounds like it might be a good comedy if you're rooting for a vine.

Leah (leahsu) I don't remember the author. It's actually written to be a horror story. The only horror was that it was published. :)

Lori Anderson (lorianderson) I read this one, too! It was written by Scott Smith and was made into a movie, which I never saw, but the cover of it, if you look at Amazon.com, is pretty gratuitous.

Stephanie I am mentioned friend who loaned this to Leah... Only because I found it so awful I wanted her to delight in mocking it with me. I also cheered for the vine, but also wondered where it came from, how it could transform itself to smell of baking bread, and why it enjoyed killing horney American twenty-somethings.

Needless to say, we have since passed it on to another fellow teacher so she can partake as well.

The Ruins. Way to go Scott Smith.

Jennie | 38 comments I don't know this book, but I'm glad that I'm not the only one who loans bad books to people so they can have someone with whom to mock said book. Don't get me wrong, I don't lend bad books to people without fair warning. My sister is my go-to person for bad-book lending.
