These first ten books represent the basic reading list that will guide the Health at Work Vision. They're not necessarily THE most important ten books, nor do any of them address workplace wellness directly, but each contains many things that are very relevant to the way we want to build our business. And frankly, the failure of traditional wellness approaches means we probably need to look for new ideas beyond what has been served up in the industry so far. I will start a discussion for each book and, as we all complete it, I hope we can discuss how the lessons from the book can be used in our strategy. Feel free to add other books that you think can do the same.

Hanlie (boekwurm) | 2 comments I am thrilled and excited about your idea! As you know, I agree wholeheartedly that traditional wellness approaches have and still are failing. I look forward to discussions on these books ...as well as those to follow.

Ok gang. The first book we're going to read together is Blue Ocean Strategy. It's a great book for getting you thinking about thinking outside the box. It demonstrates how companies can go about building a strategy in the Blue Ocean of uncontested waters compared with the Red Ocean (from the blood of competitors and you) where most of us spend our times trying to be a little better than the next guys. Whether you work for a company or are starting a wellness revolution, it's a great read to get you thinking about how we can learn to take the best from other companies, look across industries, alternatives, emotions and time to see how lessons and methods from other organizations could help us stake a claim in the blue ocean.

This is a book with a great model of looking at strategy in a new, creative way. Highly recommended.
