I thought this would be good to put up as early as possible so anyone interested who is planning to buy or get this book from the library could look for a book with all three.
For anyone interested in reading book two of the trilogy we can start the discussion August 1st in this thread. (I may start a little later since I am not done with book #1 but feel free to discuss!)
So I have only read a chapter or two but I can tell Kristin will have a lot of struggling to do. Erlend had possibilities of being a good husband based on the first book (maybe) but I do not like him at all right now. Of course Kristin's delay in letting him know she was pregnant was not right either. Its funny how she always looked up to her father then went against him to marry Erlend and now she notices how different the two are and not in a good way.

I read most of the 2nd book but haven't finished. I enjoy the book while I am reading it but after I put it down, it just doesn't call out for me to pick it up again. Strange.
I am at the part where Kristin has had her baby and is on her pilgrimage. I'm at part three of the book. So far I like it. I am glad Erlend is seeing his faults and feeling guilt but I hope this topic dies down soon and new themes come into play because it is getting a little old. I guess since today’s times are much different I can only read about how bad they feel for so long. I believe if you know you are wrong you are forgiven and you should move on in life and be happy.

I get how you feel Diane. It is a nice book to read but it doesn't have much to grab you and keep you thinking once you stop. I look at it more as a learning tool for the culture.
