Shannon (frecklesquilts) | 104 comments I sew more in the spring and summer. I'm not as tired, my mood is better, and I like it when it's warm.

How about you all? I hear so many people say that they sew more in winter. The warmer months are for vacations, gardening, and other outdoor activities.

I've got a couple of projects planned for summer. I want to make the Shakespeare in the Park quilt we've been discussing. I'm also going to try some hand applique--maybe Erin Russek's BOM with the peacocks that I've been saving the patterns or the International Sun Bonnet Sue that I bought the book for. I will also be working on some Twilight projects for my blog. I just posted a pattern for the Twilight Hands pattern there and I designed a quilt that I need to make... (http://www.twilightquilterscoven.com/...)

I'd love to hear about everybody's plans!

Tanya #TeacherReader | 90 comments I'm a teacher, so I definitely sew more in the summer. This summer I am trying to schedule a weekly sewing day at our new quilt shop. I intend to finish a lot of ufos and not buy much as I have a decent stash and lots of kits already purchased. The only problem with sewing in summer is I don't like to hand quilt because it is too hot--I save that for the other seasons!

Me, too - I sew more in the summer, and I'm sure it's because before retirement I was a teacher, and as Tanya said, that's the only time I had time to quilt! I've really tried to work on quilts during the fall/winter, but so far I haven't been very successful! :-)

Kathryn (kathrynh) I'm the opposite, sewing more in fall and winter due to the cold weather....

Sandy H (sandyquiltz) I sew more in August and February--my two slower months at work (less travel). I finally made progress today on my pinwheel wallhanging--but I have to admit it was steamy work! It's very warm out and although we have the a/c on, my sewing room is the one over the garage so it's always several degrees warmer or colder than the rest of the house depending on the season. Plus I was doing a lot of pressing with a lot of steam. I was guzzling ice water the whole time...
