Rose | 109 comments Have you all ever read a book that was spectacular up until the last chapter or two? Did it completely RUIN the entire book for you? I just finished a book with an ending that was just so awful I really wished I had it in paperback instead of on my nook so I could throw it against the wall, then out the window, let my dog do her business on it, then drive over it with my car. I think the intensity of my loathing of the ending of this book is so severe because I really liked the book sooo much up until that point.

Do you ladies have any books like this? What are they and how much of an impact do the endings have on your overall star rating of a book?

Autumn (sweetdenial) | 1625 comments Thats a very good question Rose. I think the ending part is crucial when it comes to the rating because, us romance readers want a proper HEA. but its also important to have a solid ending because this is what solidifies and justifies the whole plot of the book.

I dont a have a specific tittle in mind. But sure, i have a few i can pin point to say "wtf did just happened here??" in a good and bad way! ;P

KarenH | 121 comments Rose, what book are you referring to? If I have it in my tbr, I'll take it out and do all the nasty things to it you were deprived from doing.

Shelly (shellye77) This annoys me to no end as well Rose! I also hate it when the ending feels rushed, or the info is so vague and doesn't fit the rest of the book. I really like epilogues, but they have to be well done, I don't want just an update, or a news report, make it more interesting than that!

Autumn (sweetdenial) | 1625 comments ditto with the Epilogues Shells!!

MashJ | 733 comments Hmmmm- no, I don't think so. I might find the ending very disapointing (eg Vikram Seth's "A Suitable Boy" but it wouldn't write off the rest of the book for me.

A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments I have had that happen with a book being spoiled by a lousy ending. It's worst than a mediocre or bad book in total, because you are enjoying the book, and it suddenly tanks. That will usually lower the rating at least by .5 or more stars. I don't think I will ever give a book with a bad ending more than 3.5 stars (3 stars is mediocre on my scale), even if the majority was really good.

Shelly (shellye77) It's very hard to give it a good rating when there's a bad ending, it leaves a very bad taste in your mouth, and can color the way you view the book, for me at least.

Rose | 109 comments The book was Afterburn. I decided to step out of the comfort zone of my fav. authors and read a few by her. It was going great, I enjoyed the few I did read and then I get hit with this huge WTF??? moment at the end of this book. I think I may have just read my last Zane novel.
