Ellen (elliearcher) True crime, or fiction?

For fiction (police procedural with good characters & a good lead detective): The Laughing Policeman, part of a terrific Swedish series from the 60s (I think) by Maj Sjöwall.

Angela (bookangel2) | 1454 comments I enjoy Christopher Brookmyre's books. His crime fiction is laced with some dark humour that I like.

Roseanna

Ellen (elliearcher) Roseanna is a very early work. I haven't read it but I have read that her later ones are better.

Eric (beefdurkee) | 122 comments Very good. Would you recommend one over the other?

Ellen (elliearcher) Well, I loved The Laughing Policeman. I had trouble with The Man Who Went Up in Smoke but I think Murder at the Savoy is pretty good.
