What's your favorite romance sub-genre? Do you have one or do you love all romance equally?

I'd have to say historical is my personal favorite, specifically Regency. :O)

I recently hit a reading slump (which I whined about on my book blog in a post called Woe is Me) and picked up a straight-up thriller to relieve it. It was an odd switch for me but one I enjoyed immensely. (Kronos by Jeremy Robinson, in case you're wondering.) Otherwise, I pick up Marion Chesney for an enjoyable, frivolous read. I have a ton of her Regency romances. They always make me laugh, even after several rereads. :O)

Deana Barnhart | 1 comments I would have to say historical and paranormal. If you could somehow combine them both...ah...now that is perfection:)

Jasja | 10 comments It totally depends on my mood, I switch back and forth between different genres :) .

Beth Sorensen | 10 comments I'm a mystery girl but suspense will work just as well.

message 8: by Pamela (new)

Pamela (pamelaterry) I love mystery/suspense with romance. As well, I like historical romance - yum, yum !!!!

Sandi *~The Pirate Wench~* (thepiratewench) When I get into that "slump" mystery/suspense with romance is what I like as well..hard to find all 3 together. I love the J.D Robb books..any other recommends? Do we have a "recommend thread" yet "Mod-Mom's"? Dont want to start something in the wrong place? :)

I prefer to write contemporary romance but I read all kinds as well as books that simply have a hint of romance. I REALLY want the romance to be there somewhere though, even if it's just a crumb.

message 12: by Anne (new)

Anne (spartandax) I am definitely a fan of historical romance. My favorite places are # 1 Scotland, then Ireland, and the European continent and Russia.I am also a fan of mystery, and a good contemporary mystery, thriller with romance is just great. And I agree with Linds, unless it is an edge of your seat thriller, I want some romance. Since I am a romantic at heart!!!

Shelley (eskeeemo) | 3 comments I like anything that is well written, actually - historical, contemporaty and supernatural. Got to love the characters, though. That is number one for me.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 15 comments Historical and paranormal romance are my favorites. Least favorite is mainstream contemporary. They aren't as romantic lately to me--mainly about flings and hookups, which aren't my thing. That's why I mainly read the Harlequins when it comes to contemporary romance. I also like romantic/action suspense.

Linda Banche (lindabanche) | 1 comments I also suggest a shelf for humor or comedy. I write comedy regencies. I like a little comedy with my romance!

Deana, Susan Krinard has a historical werewolf series. I have a couple of them, but haven't read them yet.

message 17: by Pamela(AllHoney) (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) historical - medieval, amer west, regencies, highlanders are among my faves.
romantic suspense/mystery

message 18: by Arch (new)

Arch | 28 comments Interracial bw/wm. Contemporary romance that has a balance between romance and tension. Suspense books falls under the contemporary category to me.

message 19: by Peggy (new)

Peggy Henderson (peggyhenderson) | 10 comments Absolutely historical, especially american west or colonial. I've never really gotten into regency of highlander.

message 20: by Anne (new)

Anne (spartandax) I have never liked stories which take place in the US. Perhaps it is because I am here, and the Old world holds such interest for me. I like true historical, not time travel, a wee bit of fantasy is ok, but when it gets totally unbelievable, leave me out.
