in the Canon? what's that? All his short stories?
Oh. My favorite, so far, I think is The Adventure of the Speckled Band.
The Speckeled Band was really good, but there was one minor plot gap- snakes can't hear, so how could the snake come at the ring of the bell?
? I never thought of that. It's a good story anyway.
Nope! Wait... is that in the Memoirs?

Yes. It's the one where he meets..... wait, I shouldn't tell you....
XXXXXX meets XXXXXXXX and XXXXXXXXX tells him about how he met XXXXXXX so they have to go and XXXXXXXXXXX to XXXXXXXXXXX and to a XXXXXXXXXXX but then XXXXXX has to leave because of a XXXXXXX emergency and XXXXXX is left alone with XXXXXXXX and gets XXXXXX XXX a XXXXX with XXXXXXXX.

Well, there's another short story that goes with it.
(So you did read it?)
The one you should read after that called The Adventure of the Empty House. It's about everything that happens three years later!!!

I think my least favorite were the Red Headed League and The Man with the Twisted lip

I still don't get how he figured it out.

I read that one a while ago... I can't remember the solution very well. I'd go look it up in my COMPLETE SHERLOCK HOLMES COLLECTION WITH ALL 356 ORIGINAL ILLUSTRATIONS but my friend is borrowing it. :(

Have you read any Holmes stories not by Arthur Conan Doyle? I definitely reccomend The Beekeeper's Apprentice.

My favorite was the Beryl Coronet (i think the only reason I liked it was because it was my first one) and I don't think I had a least favorite.

I don't really have least favorites, either, but I get really annoyed when the story is hard to follow.
Yeah that's true. There was one that I read three times this morning before I understood what it was talking about.

Have you read A Study in Scarlet? The first part of it is really simple, but the second part is confusing because it's just about the murderer's past.
I haven't read it yet....what book is it in (if that makes sense)?

Actually, it's not a short story. It's the first book and it's a full-length novel. Watson first meets Holmes in it!
Ah ok that sounds really cool. I'll be sure to read it.
Some one please tell me that there are more stories after The Final Problem, because I just read that and I'm about to cry. It was so sad!
There are. I promise. Read The Return of Sherlock holmes.

I like The Musgrave Ritual, Silver Blaze, Norwood builder and Greek Interpreter. But Adventure of Abbey Grange is my absolute favourite. But nothing beats The valley of Fear, it's just so amazing.
In the Red Headed League, he figures out because
(view spoiler)
My favorite is probably the Five Orange Pips where he delivers sweet vengeance for a murdered client against the Klan.
Hard to single out one - I think "The Illustrious Client" is a wonderful example of a Victorian sensation story. I love the ending of "The Yellow Face", even though historians might quibble with the soundness of the narrative. I like the Blue Carbuncle as a story, and also because I think it was the best of the Jeremy Brett/David Burke episodes.
I like the ones that have a connection to Doyle's world. "The Noble Bachelor" was inspired by the real life marriages between cash poor titles and rich American heiresses - and nobles who hooked up with chorines, and Charles Augustus Milverton has a great villain, inspired by the real-life rascal Charles Augustus Howell.
Two I liked - The Copper Beeches and The Sussex Vampire. Both of them involve a really creepy child - the Rucastle boy and in Vampire, Ferguson's son by his first marriage, who is named 'Jack' - a real sociopath. I know the story was one of the later ones, but I always imagine Jack Ferguson was Jack the Ripper.
I put up this link on Baker Street Irregulars - its an interview with Jeremy Brett I just found - a really long one. In it, one of the things he talks about is filming the Final Problem episode.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCeA5...

And what is your LEAST favorite story?
