Jenn T Rogers I know I'm new around here so please forgive my forwardness...

Do we want to find a book to read for June or maybe a couple for the summer? Ideas? Suggestions?

Melki I'm new here too, but sometimes you just have to grab the bull by the horns! I'm up for anything. Summer is the perfect time for something light and fluffy, but it's also a good time to force yourself to read a title that's out of your "comfort zone" or maybe that classic you've been putting off.
I will suggest "Zeitoun" by Dave Eggers. It's about a Muslim man who chose to stay in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. We've discussed it in both my "real-life" book clubs and everyone had plenty to say about it. Although it's nonfiction, it reads like a novel - a real page-turner. And - it's in paperback.

Gretchen (gkonkler5) Not sure why I consider these summer reads but after looking at some of my favorites...
Dragon House by John Shors
The Year of Fog by Michelle RIchmond
Lost and Found by Carolyn Parkhurst
Bastard Out of Caronlina by Dorothy Alison

Jenn T Rogers I'll check into Zeitoun. Sounds intriguing. I need to look the others up. Bastard Out of Carolina was amazing! We used pieces from it for oral reading last year.

Theresa I'll try just about anything at this point. I've been having a really hard time finding something that catches my attention.

Carol (actutor) I always look for good suggestions.

I'm a newbie, too. At this early point, I just love scrolling down and hearing what y'all are thinking! Not to mention the wonderful reading ideas- my "real-life" book club and I thank you!

We are always happy to have someone take an initiative. Many of the original members were refugees from a defunct board on another site, so we are so happy for new ideas.

Jenn T Rogers I don't know how to set up a poll. I'll figure that out and maybe we can take a vote on a book?
