In preparation for reading Dogmatics in Outline, I've been trying to understand (okay, for the past few minutes!) where Barth lies in the big scheme of theologians. There are so many names for different concepts and different approaches that even though I've been interested in theology as an amateur for several years now, I still get confused!

I obviously haven't gotten very far, and I'm not going to today (I have some stuff going on). But here are a couple of websites I've found that look particularly useful, which I will peruse a little later and which some of you (because now there are more of us!) might want to peruse now.

Rhonda (rhondak) Karl Barth is one of the most significant theologians of his era if only for his rejection of the 19th century's liberal Protestantism. I was fortunate enough to have a Christian history (History of the Church) professor in seminary who had been best friends with his son (best man at his wedding unless I am mistaken) and was able to speak to Karl on many occasions.
I think the most popular criticism leveled at Karl Barth was his insistence of the separation of truth between the Logos of Christ and the truth of the Bible. It seems to me that this brings up more difficulties than it solves, but I suppose that we shall have to leave that argument until we read him.
Hans Kung has written several books on Barth and edited many of his papers, some of which I am familiar with and find rather good.
