Bobby Koneru | 1 comments Ekhart mentions in the "New Earth" that our thoughts and emotions are not actually coming from "who we are". Rather, the thought and emotions that we experience are really coming from our pain/body or ego which is created by reflexs from our past experiences.

This is in alignment by many advaita masters who also believe that we actually have no control of our physical happenings. "Events happen, deeds are done, but you are not the doer," said the Buddha.

Is Eckhart saying the same thing? Any thoughts?

Smj | 3 comments Intractably huge question ! Where do our thoughts come from? Almost all big thinkers and philosophers have raised it but I think no one has found a definite answer. I believe scientists have claimed that our thoughts and even dreams are made of our environment but then the counter question is: how about the thoughts and dreams that were never part of our environment? How about collective consciousness? If so, how large or vast is the sphere of this collective consciousness ? What do you think where the thoughts come from?

Joel (rocknjoel) | 1 comments Tolle uses the analogy of 'the dance and the dancer' in A New Earth. When one opens up to Consciousness, which comes from a place of no-mind, the alignment of his/her 'doing' with his/her 'being' is like the 'dance of consciousness' being performed by you, the 'dancer'. So, similar to what the Buddha said. There is certainly a force of Will at play, but it is not the ego's Will. Instead the Will is handed over to the Will of Consciousness - our deeds are then aligned with the Will of Consciousness.
