And, Lobstergirl and All, This group is run well mostly by members, but shelving, folder moving, etc. are sometimes necessary. But the members here do a great job, especially regarding helping fellow members find the books they're seeking.
A warm welcome to M- as our newest, and third moderator. Thanks so much for being willing to help out here.
I've asked and Rebecca (not the Rebecca who created the group) has agreed to help out and be a new co-moderator. Welcome, Rebecca!
We've lost a couple moderators recently and Rebecca is otherwise (hopefully temporarily) busy. So, we've added a new moderator. Welcome and thank you to Needleroozer for helping out here!
Thanks, D, and Anyanwu, there are a lot of posts here. I think members are used to scrolling through a few pages. But if a month, or a couple weeks have elapsed with no posts, feel free to bump up your thread(s) by posting something in the thread. It can be as simple as a comment that says: bump.
Hello group members,I've decided to leave as a mod. For this group I'd rather spend my time helping members find their lost books, and occasionally posting for help with mine. So, I'm going to delete my mod status.
Thank you to the original Rebecca for starting this group.
I've private messaged the other 4 mods to let them know and to thank them for their help. They've all contributed a lot to this group.
Thanks also to all the group members. The members here are what makes this group so special and everybody who's ever posted here to help someone find a book is what makes this group work.
See you in the group, as a general member.

Cheryl in CC NV wrote: "Thank you Lisa, you've certainly earned your 'retirement.' Enjoy!"Thank you, Cheryl. And thanks for doing as much as you do here, which is a lot.
If you get a chance, could you post a handy 'what to do when an OP says the book is solved' guide? And, if you want, a list of other chores we can try to do? Not now, but come late July I should be able to chip in a lot more, but I'm still at a loss as to the technical maneuverings on this group.
I do like sending PMs to OPs who haven't responded - I will keep poking away at that.
Well, and I don't know if that's there, but it's important to put an [s] at the end of the topic title so other mods know the book is already shelved and moved to its proper solved folder. We communicated about that somewhere.
Check the general folders and the moderator communication folder.
I did look around once. I must have missed that specific one. I will certainly dig around in the folders again when I get a chance. Tx.
Cheryl, In case I don't check every post in the administrative folders, always feel free to pm me if you have questions. And, of course, you and the other mods can made the group as you'd like it, which means you can add threads, folders, etc. do whatever to make the group even more successful, easy to manage, giving better instructions, etc.
Welcome Andria! You've been amazing about solving queries, now you can help with other tasks whenever you want to.
I just want to say: Mods, you are doing a great job! I've been in some groups where the mods really fell down on the job, but you really stay on top of things here.
We do try. We take our duties seriously, especially since this is a "help" group.
And I have to admit--I joined this group originally in an effort to find titles of some of my books that I remembered the story to, but not the title. After I'd been on a while I was invited to moderate, and I try to do everything I can to help others.

This is the ONLY thread that gives me a post option so I'm going to have to hijack this thread to ask my question.I am looking for a book where a high school football team was being kidnapped and were being turned into werewolves or some similar creature. I don't know the author but the cover showed a silhouetted hillside with a full moon rising over it. It was a horror/fiction/intrigue type novel.
Sorry about this everyone, but after looking through all the folders and threads this is the only one that would let me post. ALL the other areas have been frozen, and there is no Post New Reply button on the unsolved folder. And this has no drop down box to post anywhere else. Also there is no option or drop down box to move a post anywhere else.
[edit] It keeps telling me that I have to be a moderator to post anywhere but here.
Kender, can you please post about that bug here in the Feedback Group? If this is accurate, it is a very serious bug.

We're going to have a really big problem if people can't put their posts in UNSOLVED.

You have to be a member of any group to post in it - join the Feedback Group (I noticed you're not a member) - see if you can post here
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...
by clicking on the words "new topic."
If that doesn't work, send an email to support@goodreads.com .

Um, how are you trying to post? You wrote, "there is no Post New Reply button on the unsolved folder." but that's not what you need to start a new topic to post your question. Go to the main What's The Name of That Book??? page, click on Unsolved to go into that section. In the mid-right, just over the "last activity" heading, is a small link that says "new topic" - click on that and you should be able to create your new post. Put as much information as you can in the Topic box and then write your entire query in the comment box. Make sure the "email me when people reply" button is checked and hit post!
It is a small link just above the Last Activity Column header. If you are on the Unsolved topic. Is it not there at all?
The main "Unsolved" folder is here. Across the top of the columns you should see "topics (showing 1-30 of 3,798)" and "started by" and "posts" and "views" and "last activity". In tiny letter just above "last activity" you should see "new topic". Click that to post your question. Are you on a mobile device, table, laptop or what? Things might look slightly different on different platforms.

I've asked seven members who've over time in this group been helpful to other members' requests for finding books whether they'll help co-mod the group. So, you might be seeing some new mods in this group.
If we need more help, we'll ask all active members in here to consider whether they'll like to help out in this way.
The main things that need doing are:
1. moving solved threads to solved folders
2. shelving newly found books
3. moving queries out of the general folder to the unsolved folder
4. shelving found books before I became mod, something I haven’t gotten to
5. occasionally giving instructions or otherwise interacting with members, and
6. I’m sure there are things that rarely come up that are escaping me at the moment.
All of the above tasks can be done by original posters and some can be done by all group members, not just moderators. But, anyone who wants to do a lot of the above deserves mod status. We'll let you know if we need more help.
You can post in this thread and, if you feel more comfortable, you can always private message me.
