Last read "The Happiest Refugee" by Ahn Do. It was a easy read but interesting as I like Ahn Do.I'm now reading "My Korean Deli" by Ben Ryder Howe that I purchased from Amazon a while ago. I've not been able to find anything interesting to read at the library, even ones I had on my must read list recently. I've got a few out but found them long winded.
I've ordered 5 books off Amazon as my husband won a $50 voucher from Amazon. The Aussie dollar is so good right now I couldn't resist. I'm keenly waiting 2 books by Esmeralda Santiago who wrote "The Turkish Lover". Normally I don't read fiction anymore, just memoirs, autobiographies etc. but I was hooked after "The Turkish Lover".

I have heard several other people at work say that they have enjoyed The Happiest Refugee. Did Ahn Do write it himself, or did someone else help him write it?
Do you watch The First Tuesday Book Club on ABC? I always enjoy the program. One of the books they discussed was The Last Werewolf. Has anyone read it? Normally I wouldn't pick up a book about werewolves, but this one sounded rather interesting. Unfortunately, the local library doesn't have a copy. I spend far too much money on books!
Hi,new to good reads, have joined a couple of groups and looking to expand.. is this group still active?
cheers, K
How was the werewolf book Deb?I must admit my choice of type of books is stuck in a narrow choice of biographies. I used to love reading fiction but I read a sad biography once and I find it hard to now relate back to fiction as it's not real just fiction. Strange but true.
Hi everyone,
I'd just like to introduce myself. This is the Goodreads account for The Australian Literature Review (www.auslit.net) and I am the editor, Steve Rossiter.
I look forward to discussions here and seeing the Australia group grow.
All the best to everyone with their reading and writing. :)

Hello, I've been around Goodreads for a few months, but hadn't discovered this group before (thanks to Steve for inviting me). I'm from WA and I'm currently reading 'IDITAROD' by Andre Jute, but I've nearly finished and have 'The Book Thief' lined up for next!
G'day all, I'm David J Delaney & an internationally published "Aussie" poet & more recently short story writer, I've also been published in many world magazines, newspapers & an edition of the James Cook University journal "LiNQ" & 4 anthologies...so far! (-: I live in beautiful tropical Cairns & recently released my 3rd book, this one though is American published & titled "Out of Australia" which I will add to the bookshelf, all this in only about 4 years, I never put pen to paper until late 2007, also never had any formal education in writing as I left school 3 months into grade 8.
Happy to say G'day to everyone.
Dave.

Hi guys, thanks to Steve for the invite to join the group. Lovely to see some familiar faces here already! Suzanne, I haven't read The Happiest Refugee, but have heard only good things about it.
Katie, I loved The Book Thief. Much to my husband's horror I finished reading it on an flight and exhausted all my tissues during the last couple of chapters. Beautifully written but sad.
Dave, good to see you're here too! I'll send you some questions tomorrow for a blog interview - am deep in editing and the manuscript is due back to the publisher by the 11th November...
Next on my TBR list is Lola's Secret by Monica McInerny - loved her book The Alphabet Sisters, which is where Lola first appeared as a character.
Happy reading everyone!
Helene
G'day Helene, you can leave my interview a few more days if you like, sounds like you need to catch up on a couple of things, I'm easy eh!
Hi all,Thanks for the invite Steve. I'm Tarran and I work at Collins Booksellers in Adelaide. I just finished Alchemist Key by Traci Harding for the umteempth time.
Hi Helene, Leeann and Tarran,
Welcome to the group. Feel free to start or add to a coversation in one of the discussion topics, to add books to the group bookshelf, etc.
It's good to have a mixture of readers, writers, book bloggers and book sellers building up.

Hi all, I'm an Australian author currently living in Singapore - arrived here in 2004 on a 2-year assignment and still here!
Hello all. Nice to find this particular group. I'm an Australian author, from Brisbane, with my first novel published as an eBook in July on Amazon and Smashwords. I'm looking forward to sharing our writing and publishing experiences. I've had some experience with paid advertising - not terribly successful - which you might find interesting.
Hello Folks. I've put an update about my paid advertising on the Bringing Books to Readers/Book Publicity thread on this group. Cheers!

G'day all.I am so fond of Australian authors that I am married to one! My lovely wife - Kate Loveday, has written three books and we would love you to read them if you felt so inclined. The books, Inheritance, An Independent Woman and A Liberated Woman are listed here on the Bookshelf.
We are looking forward to reading some great Aussie books.
Hello everyone, My name is Margaret, and I'm an author from Sydney. My husband and editor Ron and I have just released the sixth book I've written, and now he and I are having a break from doing books. It's a great project for a couple, but now it's time to take stock of what we've done and where we're going.
G'day, all! My name is Julie Bozza, and I'm an Australian currently living in England. I'm loving England for all kinds of reasons - but I love Australia, too, always keep a jar of Vegemite in the fridge, and I never miss a Pete Murray gig in London! :-)I am a writer with four books published so far, all of which have been set in America. However, on 1 August my first Australia-based novel will be released. I'm pretty excited about that. :-D I never suspected how much fun it would be to write something in which I could use the word 'drongo'.
Anyway! I'm looking forward to being a part of this group, and maintaining my virtual relationship with home.
